Hi, my stock bose head unit died. I wanted to replace it with an aftermarket headunit but keep the stock bose speakers. Now I know, some people will disagree, but this is just temporary. If I don't liek the quality of sound, then I'll replace the speakers as well in the future. Now I know I need an adaptor as I looked in the FAQ sticky, however the link doesn't work properly. One question, if I get this adapter, can I use any aftermarket head unit? What about radio? Will that work too?

 

This has been posted 100 times but to save you some time:
You don't have to use an adapter for the speaker connections but I personally think it's more straightforward to use one. It's pretty much the same process (electrically) for all gens with Bose. You should get an antenna adapter though. Scosche and Metra both make both adapters. You can get them from Crutchfield or any car stereo place or sometimes guys on the org sell them at a discount.

I personally think the aftermarket HU made the stock speakers sound better. If you liked the stock sound, then you should be happy with an aftermarket HU.

 

you can use Any unit. i dont know about dvds tho. but you need a radio adapter ahich i did not know about. so i still have no radio at the moment

metra adapter+radio adapter together its like $45 extra.

Try to run a search of "BOSE adapter" or check the sticky thread. You will know what to buy.

Aftermarket HU + Stock spkr sounds pretty good. That's my current configuration.
