Long term effects of popping the clutch to start the car

Are there any negative long term effects to starting the car by popping the clutch? I'm started my second week of doing this (twice a day) until i get a new starter.

My first instinct would be yes, it has to be bad for the car... but mechanically i'm not sure?

Don't worry about it,a good hard shift from 1st to 2nd when driving will stress the motor mounts 10 times more then a pop start ever will..

A bit of a shock to the driveline, slightly reduced life span for the converters, a little more clutch wear. Nothing major, unless you start doing it multiple times a day for a long period of time.

i wouldnt worry about it. AT WORST it may just slightly damage motor mounts with the jerk but even basic racing would cause more stress than that.

I find that reverse works better than 1st gear.

I've only used reverse when I was parked uphill (like leaving my parking spot ). First is better if you're alone since there's no synchronizer for reverse gear, but you can jump in and pop it in first at 5mph with no issues, besides it being a bit quicker to keep straight going in the right direction.

Reverse could possibly have a little less adverse affect on the drivetrain as it will skip the wheels across the pavement a bit instead of just biting into the ground immediately and lurching the engine to speed.

I had a faulty starter for a month or two and was push-starting my **** every day, those were fun times.

Coming up on week 5 of push starting my clutch. I'm so f-ing sick of this ****. I'm fixing my ish this weekend. period. Nothing is worse than leaving a client meeting with a CEO and saying adios and dropping the "hey, mind giving me a push?"

Been there and done that. It was even funnier in my case because I had an SR20DET 240sx, everyone would be WTF "didn't you tell us that your car was the shiet?" the good old college days...
