check your brake fluid, if it is out or low then your light will come on

If it was just the brake light, I would say check the brake fluid level to make sure it's topped off. You can also check that the parking brake is going all the way down.

If all of your dash lights are coming on, could be an alternator/charging issue. Sometimes when the alt. is dying it causes all kind of weird lights to show up on the dash

Maybe you have a problem that you have not found yet and your alternator keeps dying due to that un-found problem >?

BTW have you visited TMEC yet ?

i had that problem too...
i checked added brake fluid and solved that problem real quick.

as for the alty problem, i would say u have to check the wiring. my friend's dad used to change alternators more than his clothes (well not that bad but u get the idea haha) and it was because of a short circuit. check it out, hope it helps.

I would suggest that you take a look at your brake pads as well. I've noticed my brake fluid level gets a little low when it's time to change the pads.

Sounds like an alternator issue. Have a place like Autozone check your alt and battery with their testing equipment and see if they can give you a solid answer. It could be as simple as your serpentine belt needs tightening (if it was loose, it would cause poor charging). If you have had to replace the alternator four times in one year, that indicates a major problem and means you have other electrical issues going on in your car. And those other issues are killing your alternator.

Also, it would be good to check the main wiring and grounds going to the alternator from the battery. Make sure they both have a solid, CLEAN, connection.

I just had the same problem (Airbag light, Check Service Engine light, battery and The one with the exclamation mark lights). Now I know my entire exhaust system has to be replaced (Check Serive Engine Light came on, and I brought it to a shop to get it checked out). But about 2 weeks ago when I was driving up north to go back to work, the light with the exclamation mark turned on and the battery light. I just pulled into my drive way and kept it parked until last night.

Last night I started my car (-25c outside), I let it there and let it warm up. I just had to move it a few feet to park in front of my snowmobile. I moved it a bit, and then my max killed itself. I then tried to start it again, no luck. It didn't even turn.

So I tried again tonight, nothing happened. I mean no lights, the key remote didn't work, nothing. I talked with a few light-duty and heavy-duty mechanics that I work with and all them said its probably the altenator or a belt.

By the way, the battery is 1 year old and the car always starts in these temperatures.

What could be the problem?

Sorry to jack the thread, but no point starting another thread about the same thing.

Thanks alot,

-Ryan,

! + batt light coming on steady is either the alternator belt (or lack there of since it could have snapped) or the alternator itself, or a random problem that i was having when these lights would come on and ff randomly....

Now for you since everything died, first look to make sure you still have a belt on, if you do then your alternator died 99%

Mine came on after having the the entire, (except for the booster), brake system replaced. It went back out after a bit of driving.

Make sure the Brake reservior is topped off and that the float inside the brake reservior isn't stuck in the bottom of the reservior. You can use a small pen on screwdriver to dislodge it from the bottom of the reservior! Make sure the parking brake is down when you check this!
