lost my key fob..

Wondering if ebay is the best bet to get a new one? How do you program it when it arrives? Any info would be much appreciated.

I see ALOT of fobs on ebay for cheap. I'm not certain, but I believe a dealership would have to program it.

You can program the key fobs yourself. The instructions are here on the org somewhere and probably easily found with a google search. I bought two off ebay when I had my 97 I30 and while I don't remember the exact programming instructions I do remember that it was very easy to do.

No, go to http://www.keylessride.com. You can get the factory match for about $79. I've used them twice and have had no problems with the remotes that I've bought. And they take less than 5min. to program.

I purchased a fob/remote on eBay about a year ago for less than $25 shipped and have had no problems with it. Most sellers will include the reprogramming instructions. Very easy to follow. Getting keys themselves, well that's a different story...

Fob reprogramming procedure.

Get in the driver seat

Insert and remove the key 6-8 times until you see the 4 ways flash once

Put the key into the ignition and turn to accs. position

unlock the doors using the door control then lock

Lock the doors with the Fob

Hazards should flash again

Take the key out, open driver door and close it

Your Done!

Good Luck!

This worked for me, but took more like 15 key insertions.

Another option is mrremotesinc.com. Instructions come with. I think it was under $30.
