2001 Max SE or 2001 300M which one would you choose

Sup Everyone,

I am a fan of the Nissan cars and was planning to purchase one this year. I was really looking forward to the 02 Altima, but after test driving it and noticing the chaeap plastic they used on the doors and dash I decided not to buy it. I'm pretty much stuck on choosing either a fully loaded 2001 Max SE or a fully loaded 2001 300M. The only con with the Max is the poor quality of paint that has been used on the 01 models (has every 01 owner had the same paint chip problem ?). I don't want to have to pay for a paint job after a year. The con with the 300M is it's size and I prefer a 5speed. They are both going for around 25K (chrysler dealer has a $7700 rebate off msrp!)....in your opinion which one would you pick?

I bet they are giving you also 0% financing on Chyrsler. $27K deal is hard to beat, but...I'd go with the Max on one condition. Before leaving the sales floor, get a 3M clear film...Someone on the .org posted this, and I really loved this idea. I wish I knew about it when my car was brand-new.

i would take a max in a second...you could always buy mine

but i'd defenitely take the max over a 300m in a second...the max handles better, looks better, has more aftermarket, is faster, has more features, is not american...the list goes on and on...better quality etc.

the 300m is more of an old persons car...although old people have started making the max an older persons car also, there are tons of young people driving them and nissan is trying to center the car and advertisements towards younger people

maxima no doubt...sticker price on mine was over $29k and i got it for $25,500...later found out that the dealer lost money on my car but they needed to get it off the lot to meet their quota...got it below invoice

Is the 3M film the stuff they spray on....I've always heard that it really doesn't help protect the paint...thanks for the info though!

The 300M is not bad looking...but I do agree with the old people car thing. I'm gonna try to see if I can get the dealer to go down to the $24K area since it's almost 2K2 and they want to get rid of their 2k1s.

Your kit is hella sick!! how much did you pay for it (incl. installation)

I think that Y2KMaxGXE-R was talking about 3M Paint Protection Film .

Here is a link to describe what it is.
http://products.mmm.com/us/auto_mari...gvPKD7VS0CHGgl

WHEN I get my Max, the first thing I will do is have this film put on my hood and front bumper. It's suppose to do wonders.

Not a bad deal on the 300M, but I'd still go with the Max. Those Chrysler cars all got big butts on them.

go with the maxima, much better quality than the chrysler and looks hella better too! not to mention faster and all that good stuff. i was talking to a guy that used to work for BMW, and he told me that the maximas are of the same or better quality than the BMWs, so again GO WITH THE MAXIMA!

I've driven a 300M and its a nice comfortable car. In comfort, it might be better then the Max. But the Maxima wins in every other catagory, especially performance. Get a Maxima SE

Same here. Plus, at least around here, people don't expect the Max to be fast (not that they expect a 300M to be either), and their underestimation of my car is one of the things that makes it so much fun to drive around in a place where everyone has egos they need to satisfy and will race anything. Like that guy in the V6 Firebird tonight...ouch...

I'm going with the Max(fully loaded)..do you guys think at $25,471+tax&lic. it's still a good deal even though it's almost 2k2 ?

I test drove the 300M and it didn't have the same pull as the Max...you can feel the difference.

Thanks for the link on the paint protection peel...is this the 3M brand?

Why not just get a 2002? I would much rather the new engine and HID's etc. on the 02 and skimp out on leather and bose. The price would be about the same.

Black is an awesome color!, and btw: you won't regret getting the Max, and if you're not in a hurry, check out the 2k2 ..
