Yes another "car won't start" thread...
Ok... Car was running great when I went into Wal-Mart... When I came out it wouldn't start... I started with the simple stuff... Checked the fuses and relay's, checked the fuel filter and pump... All good... I then checked the coils using a HEI tester... They're all firing... Then I used a Diod tester to test the front bank and nothing... So the injectors aren't getting a signal... In the process of testing and replacing I put in a new Camshaft sensor. I've been told it could be anything from a bad MAF to the security system shutting them off... A couple times a mech. buddy of mine told me to spray carb cleaner into the intake and it would fire just for a sec and then shut off... My dumb@$$ didn't think to remove the MAF and spray it, so I did it through the MAF... could this have ruined it in the process? A local mechanic has the car right now, but isn't working fast enough for me... I've already missed a week of work... Thanks in advance for any help at all... Have a great day!!!!
replace the starter and check the male spade plug that is on the starter.
sometime that female spade recepticle gets loose and then your car won't start. Happened to me.
If that still won't fix it, get the starter bench tested. Seems as you have done everything else but that.
goodluck.

it wouldn't crank? or it wouldn't start?
sounds like an ignition switch if it's not cranking.
to test the starter, use the method on here where you short the contacts with screwdriver to make it turn. or you can pull it off and pull off the housing of the starter and see if your brushes and the internals look okay. sounds more complicated than it is, believe me.

it just wont start... Its getting fire and the engine is getting fuel.... the injectors aren't getting a signal, so they aren't pulsing... I told a guy at Nissan of Rivergate that while I was trying to start it the security light was stayin on... He said that meant the keys need to be reprogrammed and then hung up... So I dunno if I gotta have the car towed up there with it or just need the keys and VIN number...
yeah, fuel flow is great tested it and shot 93Octane all over my arm... And it is a 1999 SE.... Immobilizer? what the hell is that and how much should I expect to spend fixing it?
if it was the immobilizer it would simply not crank at all, am I not correct?
I'm getting the impression that it cranks but wont actually fire up.
Does it even sputter a bit? Auto or manual?

could sound funny but it looks exacly like when i bought a new key that was not yet programed, if was like: let's see what would happen if i try to start my car with this key!! Damn, it was cranking like crazy but no gas to get it started... maybe reprogram ur key? Im not a pro
yeah, okay... so after three weeks of my car sitting at this morons shop I took it over to Stones River Nissan... They reprogrammed the key and got it started... in 2 hours... I also had some other things done while it was there, but the key fixed my initial problem... atleast now I know my fuel filter, pump, Crankshaft position sensor and several other things are good, since I replaced them in the process... damn chipped keys... anyhow, thanks for everyones help!!
Hey all,
I'm completely new to Maxima.org, but I had done a Google search for my wife's '99 Maxima SE not starting. I had seen a lot of advice about the fuel pump, etc., but reading about having to reprogram the keys directed me here. I'm gonna get towed to the dealer either this afternoon or tomorrow and see if they can reprogram our keys.
Good to know the car's not completely broken, 'cause we can't replace it... and it's a rather nice car.

I know that when I had a problem I replaced my starter and it started right up, but I also had a problem my alarm, power seats, power windows and power locks, they were not working my dome lights in the car wouldn't come on when I opened the door either. I found out that the problem was the fuseable link under the fuse box. After I got that resolved I was good to go.
