*BROKE DOWN...LEAKING TRANSMISION FLUID*

So im driving down the street today when all the sudden my car stops driving. I hit the gas and it's as if the car is in neutral. So i pull over on a side street and see a ****load of red fluid coming out from under my car. It was driving fine the entire day then all the sudden did it, does anyone know what could have caused this?

your main seal was no good and driving around all day made it get really hot and stretched the seal, you pretty much need a seal, now as for the car neutraling out that means your trany is slippin. all this usually happens when the fluid is no good or not enough of it

Have you gotten a chance to go under yet to take a look? There is a transmission cooler hose running from your tranny to the radiator and then a return line back to the transmission. Hopefully, your problem is simply a busted or disconnected hose and no damage was done, as that is a simple fix.

edit for picture-
You can see the return line in this picture taken from the sticky in the fluids section:

Check that line and the other one to make sure that neither of them have burst or slipped off.

Main seals on a VQ rarely ever leak, it's the upper oil-pan seal than causes issues. And, ummm, yeah I've yet to see one instantly blow, or even leak bad enough to get on the clutch for that matter. The fact that he said the tranny fluid was bright red and that the car was revving and going nowhere once the fluid dumped out should have been a good indicator that he was an auto and was leaking tranny fluid, your post makes no sense.

Basically, auto = won't move without fluid. Find the leak, fix it, refill. If it's difficult to find the leak you might need to add some fluid and have an assistant start it while you try to pinpoint the leak, cooler lines also get my vote, good post with pics CriMe.

im just saying because that same thing happened to me on a highway trip. pulled over and fluid everywhere, got underneath and saw it was coming from were the engine meets the tranny.
