When should I change it??

I put mobile1 10w-30 synthetic oil in my car at 9,500 miles 2-1/2 months ago. I just passed 15,000 and the car is going in for the 15k service on wednesday. Should I go ahead and have them change the oil also, or just wait a couple of k's more? also, don't I have to change the filter every 3-4k anyways?

your powertrain is under 5yr/60K mi wtty. Why mess it up? The book sasy gotta do it every 3,750 mi (oil &filter). If smthg goes wrong, you wont be able to find the proof you did all sched. maintenance.

From the owners manual there are TWO maintenance schedules -- one for oil changes at 3750 miles and one for 7500 miles. The difference being for the condiotions in which you drive the car... The 3750 one is usually for people who tow trailers, drive in cold weather, make a lot of short trips (less than 10 miles usually), or live in the desert. If these don't apply to you, and since you're using Mobil 1, feel free to go with the 7500 interval.

yeah, a different schedule applies if you drive mostly on hwy. I drive 80% on a highway, but change my oil/filter every 3,750 mi...

I think..

I think I will do a 5k mile oil change schedule with the synthetic oil. I drive 65-75% high/freeway and only drive hard on weekends. But, should I still change my filter at say ~2500 miles?

Yeah I wanted to do this, but what kind of oil should I get? The Series 2000 one?

And what type of filter should I get that will be able to handle a 35k oil change?

I think you get the amsoil oil filter. If you do plan on going the entire 35k, I'd have an oil analysis done at 17.5k miles just to make sure the oil is good for another 17.5. Sorry, that is all i know.

How do you do oil analysis and how much does it cost? I check it the old-fashioned way, by looking at its color on the dipstick. I wouldnt trust any outside "oil analysis unless it is done by Nissan, who gave wtty. Oil/filter change is only $20, and I don't think it is worthy to experiment with your beloved max.
