My neighbor just bought a 2001 Max and though she had the 255 hp motor.
I thought the 2001 had only 225 versus the 222 of the 2000s.
Am I wrong? She didn't realize she needed premium gas, so not knowing her engine is to be expected.

 

2k1 without AE edition was the same car as the 2000 maxima..

unless she bought it in 2001 got the 2002 model and thinks its a 2001 maxima..

but if its not an Aniversery Edition.. it has 222 hp like the 2000 maxima

she doesn't NEED Premium gas.. hell the dealership uses 87.. however it is in her best interest to use Premium Gas

 

2001 only had 222hp for GXE/SE/GLE's and 227 for the AE.
2002 have 255hp.
