So I crashed my car tonight...

Well on my way home from working my *** off all day, I was going about 40 MPH on a back road that I always travel and while taking a turn, my front wheels locked up and I slid off the road and hit a tree. My bumper is ****ed, passenger side fender is ****ed, hood is ****ed, grill is ****ed, custom lights are ****ed, tire was blown out (may be the reason I crashed) and my feelings are ****ed. So what does that equal? Well if you add the parts and the fact that I have pearl coated paint on my car, about $3500 maybe more. I have 160k on my 95 Max and it looked clean, but now after this, its a huge punch to the gut. I feel terrible.

P.S. Even after all that damage my Maxima still ran like a beast!

The body shop will buff that right out. When my car was wrecked after the idiot ran the red light, they asked me where i got my custom stuff from, in other words they offered to replace it. The shop doing the repair may replace your custom items, it's worth a shot.

Glad to hear that you're okay man, that's the most important thing. Are you planning on fixing the car out of your pocket? I almost got in an accident yesterday acutally, but now I know for sure my Maxima's brakes work.(The accident wouldn't of been my fault.) Good luck man.

Haha well I was applying my brakes on the turn and thats when it felt like the steering went out. You know when you turn your car off and then you stop receiving power steering. Thats how it was. I want to fix it because it still runs like a dream, but I also would love to have a 2003 Maxima I just don't know which route will be the cheapest way to go.

It's kind of ironic, but yesterday I was talking to my mechanic friend and he was telling me how clean it looked for 160k. Damn it. =o/

I'll post pics later on today.

fixing your current car yourself will be far cheaper than buying a 5th gen.
heck even having a body shop do it all should come out cheaper than a 5th gen, assuming you don't need any time on a frame machine.

so you mean the car shut off. not as in locking up the brakes. that happened to me during a canyon run but luckily i was slowing down for a stop anyways and forced the steering away from the hill.

Thats sure what it felt like, but I turned the car off after it happened though. I don't know how it happened to be honest, but now tonight I realized I dont have any back lights. My brakes and turn signals work, but no lights. =o/

ABS brakes would have most likely prevented your crash.

Well im pricing parts and it's not as bad as I thought, but its the pearl paint thats gonna cost me. I can still beat civics without paint on those parts for the time being so i'll be alright. =o)

its not much of a difference painted and solid color than a 2 stage pearl. A three stage pearl is a little more work cuz theres an extra color to add to the mix. The pearl colors have to be blended into the adjacent panels to match the color. Im the head painter at a shop and i also do it on the side. I could prolly give you a good price but don't expect me to be competitive with maaco cuz you get what you pay for from them.

Well the only reason I was assuming it would be more is because back in 2006 my friend hit the same fender that I just messed up with his truck and the body shop said it was so expensive to repair because of the pearl coat. Probably just ripping the insurance company off, I dont know. I appreciate the offer, but that would be one hell of a drive to make to get my car painted. Not that I wouldnt do it if I had the money because im originally from Maryland.
