you can't keep the fogs to do a 5.5 bumper

its either

5th gen fogs with 5th gen bumper
or
5.5 fogs with 5.5 bumper

This is one of those situations where unless you do some custom work, you can't have the best of both worlds.

what are these plastic covers you speak of? will they keep the fog lights from cracking? I've replaced my fog lights last year, and now they're both cracked again

02-03 Foglight fix!

I used the headlight pressure tape found @ weathertech.com! This tape can be trimmed to fit any kind of light lense exposed to possible damage! I had my 03 for about 3 months and both foglights were damaged! since then I purchased a foglight kit from ABC Nissan for about $120 with everything( It's cheaper to buy the kit than to buy the foglight housings) and applied this clear lense protector and it's been 4 yrs of trouble free usage! This tape can take a .22 caliper pellet gun shot from 25 feet and not damage the lense! I would recommend this to all 02-03 and even the 00-01 with the plastic lense ( there's a rock with your name on it out there!) You can usually find this tape in Car And Driver, Road And Track mags! I'm using it on about 3 vehicles with no damage yet to any of them! This stuff is great for protecting your headlights, hood and facsia, foglights etc.......it doesn't yellow either! I'm running HID foglights so the temperture is lower! But I did run PIAA Extreme white foglight bulbs for about 2 years. Bug juice got cooked on and left an yellowish stain the size of a nickle and I replace it with fresh tape! good luck..... Oh by the way... It's not the curb destroying the foglights it's all the (F.O.D.) and flying debris that we can't see, next time you drive down a busy freeway stick your hand outside your car and you'll be surprised as to how much **** is kicked up in front of your car by other vehicles!

Cannot be done. Get the appropriate bumper or appropriate fogs.

Do you have each on hand? I don't, but if I did, I'd conclude for sure as to what needed to be done... But since you have both bumpers, why don't you try to make them work?

They physically fit the openings (I think slight size difference) but are mounted differently. That being said, the bumper is only plastic, so if you feel like modifying, give it a shot. I would if I had 2 bumpers to play with.

^^ This is more accurate than what I said. I've seen it attempted (and 'successfully' mounted), but because of the size differences it looked terrible.
