Sola Luna **** installed!

Well, finally got my Sola Luna **** in Crinkle Black per the recs on the org. For those who don't know about this beauty, it is made for the Miata but the threads are the same so it screws down onto the stock shifter.

See below for discussion:
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....ight=sola+luna

In any case, the threads go all the way up to the top of this **** instead of somewhere in the bottom/middle. See the pic below for a comparison between the new Sola Luna on the right, and my previous Universal **** on the left which secures itself with 3 screws at the base of the ****. Please note that I have the Pacesetter STS which is shorter than stock. With the addition of the universal **** on the STS, the total height is almost as high as stock. With a stock ****, the difference in height would have been less, but according to Dwapenyi is definitely noticeable/beneficial. Also, the angle of the two pics is slightly different so you can't take measurments but you can definitely see the difference I think.

Initial Impression: Awesome finely textured surface. **** is slightly smaller than what I would have wanted but feels good. The aluminum ball actually threads down onto the delrin insert which in turn screws down onto your shifter threads. Compared to my old ****, you feel transmitted heat more and also vibration. I think this is because the ****/insert/shifter is very tightly fit compared to the universal. Shifting feels much more connected. MUCH more. Shifting feels much more precise. In a word, it is great! Highly recommended, as is the STS!!!

That looks pretty good. Doing anything over the weekend? I want to get a first hand look at the **** since my stocker is cracked and I am in a market for one. Email me at sigh@aol.com so I can see it in person. =)

Mine apparently is slightly different. I also have my STS on a short throw but it looks like your **** is positioned fairly low. I'm guessing it's because of the ****. On my universal ****, the threads are at the very bottom of the **** between the collar and the ****. YOur's is also nice and fat. I likey...
