5th gen mirrors install, need help with base

Searched, but didn't find anything useful.

I recently purchased an A33 Cefiro power folding mirrors (You can see the silver mirror in my sig). Why? Well, to be different, why else... And of course different I got. Now I need to manufacture a new mirror base. Has this been done before? What materials were used? Thanks!

I assume the mounting holes underneath the main housing are in a differen position/different amount? Have pics of the underside? Before I got my JDM Power Folders I completely disassembled my mirrors and if the mounting holes are the same (and the plug matches up) it should be swappable.

Is that a JDM mirror?

It's original Nissan. I will have to do some drilling in the door brackets to make some new holes which won't be the problem. The problem is insulating the thing so it doesn't leak inside the door panels (which I think it does at the moment). And of course there's the cosmetic look issue on the outside.

I'll take some pics in the lunchtime.

I meant the mounting holes on the swivel, not on the door itself. Maybe you can use the A32 mount with the A33 housing. FSM doesnt give a diagram and I deleted my Nissan fast so I cant get a pic of the armature.

Why didn't you get the 4th gen. power folding mirrors? Why is there an Infiniti badge on your grill??

Why do birds fly? j/k

It's kinda too late to get another set of mirrors.

Looks like I won't be able to use the same base. 4th gen is a really different bolt pattern from 5th.

I figured as much. and when I took mine apart, the base is one solid piece. Could always sell them and get the 4th genners. You go the OEM switch right?

seriously, why the infiniti badge? i30's put nissan in places to emulate a Cefiro, never heard of someone emulating an infiniti, especially with OEM maxima front end...roflcopter

I have a friend who installed 5.5 gen folding mirrors on his 4th gen, it required some modification but it looks great.

I know but my question was why didn't you get 4th gen. mirrors in the first place.

Cause I got a really good deal on them and I never seen them so cheap ($120 with shipping to Canada)

The base had to be shaved of course to make them fit, and then he used the OEM mirror switch from the overseas 2003 as well.

Here is another problem you may run into. Not sure where you got yours from, but mine came straight from Japan which makes them almost completely non-functional. With the Right hand drive, I get to see the entire side of my car from the dirvers mirror and I get to see 3 lanes over from the passenger mirror. I havent taken the time to figure it out yet, but this weekend I'll see if it is the glass that needs to be switched back to USDM or the bracket inside. (Hoping it's the plastic bracket so I dont have to go get heated glass. Plus I think the JDM would give a wider viewing angle.)

Just curious, where in Canada?

Toronto, ON.

Doesn't seem like that's a problem with these mirrors. I can adjust it so the view is the same as it would be with USDM. They are from Japan though. I had to modify the US 5th gen mirror shells and glue them into the mirror.

sweet

well, the fit was exact, the holes for the snap-ins were different so I had to cut them off with a dremel and glue the whole thing with super glue.
