Removing Gas Pedal...

How are you supposed to remove the throttle cable from the top of the gas pedal? I have both of the 10mm nuts off where it bolts to the firewall, but can't figure out for the life of me how to remove the cable.

Thanks guys.
Matt

See that little white circle behind the brass piece and the black foam piece? That's a keeper. The top of the pedal is a "fork", and that white piece snaps in it and holds the pedal in place. Slip a flatblade in between it and the pedal and push up. It should snap out.

I'll get a picture in sec. EDIT: Couldn't stick a camera up there to get a picture sorry. Hope you can figure it out, it's pretty straightforward.

Its cool...I think I know exactly what you mean.

I just basically take a flat head and pop the whole throttle cable assembly off without loosening the lock nut?

Exactly. Stick the flathead under the bottom of the white circle and pop it upwards and the whole thing comes off.

Haha, the past 2 hours I had been trying to figure out how to get it off...searched the FSM and they were telling me to loosen the lock nut, blah, blah.

Thanks again for your help. I'll be posting pics up in a little bit of what I did tonight.

Hah no problem man. I had my car torn apart anyway (body color door handles woot woot) so it's all good.

I'm interested in these developments!

Bet your fingers are tired.. Those brake and clutch pedals are pretty hard on the fingers, when installing

Gorgeous that looks really really good. Just curious though, why did that require you to remove the throttle cable?

And the exterior handles aren't terrible once you figure them out. I only got one side done in about 4 hours of work but the passenger side should take about an hour tomorrow. I'll do a writeup because there's no real info on this site.

I see we both had our own projects tonight. High five!

Yeah my fingers are a bit tired...a stubby small flathead screwdriver helps a lot though, along with putting them into a bucket of hot water for a few minutes. It's funny the clutch pedal took me almost 45 minutes while the brake took me about 5 minutes...

Haha the clutch/brake pedals are simply covers you replace, however the gas pedal includes the entire arm running right up to the throttle cable. Why did you remove yours?

And yeah we both did have our little projects tonight. I am really impressed with the final product and am amazed at how good the 350z dead pedal looks (considering how much of it you saw/grind off).

Haha, well thanks a lot. The FSM was of no help here...as it was trying to tell me to loosen the lock nut and go from there. I am still always afraid to break something on my car, but I become more and more confident to use force when removing things on my car. Who knew it would be a plastic clip type thing holding it up?
