How do I know if I have LSD?
I need to replace my axles because my cv joints are finally starting to make noise. The cv boots have been torn completely in half on both sides for 5 years, and they are original w/144k miles on them Not bad. Anyways, I have to know if my car has LSD or not so I can get the right axles. Any other tips or extra parts I might need is welcome! I'm assuming it does have LSD, but on Autozone's site it shows indicates that some do not have LSD. Thanks.
no 4th gen came from the factory with LSD-locking diff ONLY the canadian max and most I30 come with the LSD. most likely you will have the open diff.
or decode the tranny code on the vin plate....can't remember exactly where in the in teh tranny code (lettering/numbering on the plate it is but if you have a V in there (i think second to last of the code) than its VLSD, if its an A than its just open diff.
Or see if she pulls or pushes you while taking a turn with minimal acceleration.
If the inside tire spins, you'r tranny is a open diff. Now if you feel the outerside wheel pulling you through the turn than you have an LSD.
hope this helps you out, and if anyone puts more thought into this while reading let me know if i made a mistake or not......everything was from the top of my head.
PLUS..for future refference the search bar is a great way to look for info. (just a FYI, not tryin to bash)
let us know what you find out and it this helps.

Thanks boys. This is my wifes car, I'll check the VIN when she gets home, but I drive it enough to know that this:
is what happens.
I couldnt find any info by searching other than to look at a tag on the tranny itself to identify VLSD/open diff. I know I could look up or call the dealer with the VIN to decode it, but I was just wondering if there were any other indicators. Thanks.
