The hose is probably pretty "glued" on there. I had to carefully use some pliers and try to "break" the seal by twisting the hose. Be carefull not to damage the hose though. It also might help of the car was warmed up(to warm up the hoses). That might make it easier. You can also try to use a flathead screw driver and pry the hose off the filter(to break the "seal". Good luck.

Try not to smoke during this one.

You can buy a tool just for taking the fuel filter off,all you do is put it between the hose and filter and close the handles and the hose pops off.Should be able to find this at napa so i heard

cut that thang off

i had the same problem and just cut the hose as close to the filter as possible, there was enough slack to connect it again without any problems

Got it done!

Heated up some pliers with boiling water, poured the rest of the water on the hoses, and twisted vigorously!
Thanks everyone!

btw, my dad said that fuel filters do not need to be replaced...fuel is filtered many times as it is.
My response...there's a filter in there for a reason, and after 10yrs I'm sure it's dirty.
So who's right?

Sure, fuel is filtered many times, but who knows what shape the tanker is in, the gas station tank is in, or the pump...etc, etc.
A clean filter gives you better milage and a smoothing running engine. I replace my air & fuel filter every year.
