No start, No crank, Starter changed. HELP

Ok, so I had my car parked at Target for about 30 minutes than when I return back to the car, it doesn't crank. Battery is fine. Starter is ok (replaced it last night). I'm all out of ideas. I can roll start my car. I tested the starter itself and works fine. I believe the ignition switch was changed with the last owner since I do have two keys one for IGN and one for my door.

Any idea??? I'm just fed up now. Any help would be great. Thanks

Thats weird. Most likely ignition switch, i had a corroded one and it caused me all types of stress (in a Mercury, 1st car) R u sure battery's ok? Maybe you have a power drain somewhere? any codes?

Batt is fine. No codes. I'm sure I don't have a power drain. When I try to crank it while the car is on I get an RPM drop which is normal due to all the current being drained by the starter. But I'm reading up on everyone elses issue and it seems that it could be the ignition switch. Is there a "how to" on the stickies somewhere? how much do they usually run for?

After reading all the other threads I tried to start the car about 30+ times in a certain way or w/ever .... nothing.

If it is not sending a signal for the starter to crank the motor is it the ignition switch?

alternator maybe?? or the screws on the starter might be loose make sure to go back and tighten those suckers up coz that's what happened to me or take out the terminals off your battery and brush out the corrosion!

EVERYTHING HAS BEEN TIGTENED WELL AND SECURLY. ALL GROUNDS ARE OK. STARTER IS NOT THE ISSUE. NIETHER IS ALTERNATOR.

What are the chances that it is the clutch switch?
How would I be able to test for this switch alone?
Is there a fuse that could be blown for my car?

MY CAR DOES NOT even ATTEMPT TO CRANK. I just flip the key and nothing.

BATTERY IS PERFECT!!! NO RUST!!!

Purchased a brand new ignition switch for 55 at the dealership since i cannot wait. Going to install today after work... hopefully this corrects the issue.

Has anyone here at the .org corrected this issue where previous symptoms were where it will not start AT ALL even though you "jiggle" the key in IGN?

is there a reason why the ign switch fails out of no where?
it seems like there is usually a sign or warning that the switch is ready to fail.... if there is no warning sign should i still diagnose this problem as a possible ignition switch problem?

So I finally sat there with a multimeter for a few hours last night and realized it was NOT the ignition switch. I looked and realized that some of my ignition switch wires on the male side was going to my aftermarket alarm system. Turns out the wires are loose on the relay... tightened those up and it cranked. WHEW talk about a sigh of relief when I heard my car fire up.

I can't return the IGN switch so now I spent $60 for a useless part. damnit. lol

thanks for the help everyone....

This thread is almost a year old.

Are you seriously not going to
  1. Take my advice in one of the other threads you posted in
  2. Post in the DAMN NEWBIE THREAD. Spreading your posts out over multiple threads is only going to HURT your diagnosis, not help.

It's not that damn hard to understand, Greg.

You keep on asking for responses, but you're obviously not reading a single damn one of them.
