anyone hear of 'hiachi(sp)/k&n intake system"?

tried search and didnt get any results. i just got my max yesterday, and went to the performance shop to price some things.. i asked about a CAI but b/c i live in louisiana (mild weather + floods), he recommended this hiachi k&n intake system with some sort of adapter?
the price was 145 installed. anyone know about this intake? hows it sound? how does it compare to CAIs?

thanks a lot

Never heard of it before. $145 seems expensive for a K&N filter. Just make your own.

its not just the k&n filter.. it has some mass air intake adapter (or something similar)

Well of course, you need an adapter. Just make your own adapter for the K&N filter (if you are someone that can make things from scratch). It will be cheaper and you will have the same gains.

Some people say you lose a little low end, but gain high end with that kind of intake. Even if you do lose low end, it sure as hell sounds bad ***. It really screams. I think someone tested it to give around 3hp at the wheels, not sure though. The CAI I think saound the same, maybe a little more thraotier, but you get better gains with the CAI. You also have to cut a 3" hole in your fender, not sure if you want to do that though.
