how to tell if fuel injector/s bad?

I have been getting lean codes on and off. Ran injector cleaner…..BUT,

I notice a loud clicking sound when initially giving gas. Sounds like a loud tap almost.

To be clear I hear a slight clicking when idle. If I lay my foot on gas ever so slightly (pedal barley moves) RMPS have not yet changed and I hear the clicking or tapping sound get noticibly louder but levels out....only gets so loud. Analogy…sounds like someone hitting a single key on a typewriter over and over.

I have headers so once I getting going it’s nearly impossible to hear it from inside the cabin. I doubt it is any type of a mechanical failure (engine…rods/valves, ect…) or I’m sure it would get increasingly loud as I put load on the engine and the RPMS increase.

Questions:
How to validate an injector is bad?
Is it difficult to replace one?
Should I just replace all of them on that rail?
Heck should I just replace the fuel rail?
Should I even attempt myself if an injector is indeed the culprit?

It is normal for fuel injectors to lightly tick at idle since they are a mechanical device that opens and closes. Getting a code for a lean mixture does tend to indicate a bad injector though. I don't believe it is hard to change one but make sure you vent the pressure in the gas line before attempting to remove one.

I have no idea how to locate the injectors...can you give a clue

It will idle funny, usually in the morning at first start, almost like it is missing then goes away. Other than that is seems okay.

they are on the top... the front ones are 3 little plugs infront of the Intake manifold right near the fuel rails that should be wrapped in black tape (the rails themself in black tape).... the rears im not sure but i think they are actually under the intake manifold or way in back can someone else verify?... but definantly test when cars idleing bad
