What's the best oil cooler for the buck?
Im a bit worried about the heat the SC is causing on the oil...
what are the best oil coolers on the market? i know stillen and greddy have them but they're like $400. thats way too much.
what are some cheaper alternatives? thanks

Sup Cheston. I know a good cheap alternative. Change your oil every 3K miles

Mines always at the half way point. I just do oil changes every 3000 miles or so.

I told you i was putting together a kit Cheston. Ill show you someday when your back up north. Weather in LA too hot for the blower. Bring it up to Nor Cal weather..much better

Hayden and Flex-a-Lite are pretty affordable. I'm about to install one myself but haven't decided which one to go with. I think the Hayden has more surface area to volume but both should get the job done. It should lower the oil temp by 20 degrees Celsius or so if I'm not mistaken. My concern was longevity for both the cooler and the engine. I'm convinced this will extend the life of the engine (mainly the internal parts) but I'm not sure if the rubber hoses are favorable or should I try to find some metal or silcone lines?

sorry for double post but anyone know what the thread and size of our oil filter is, in case I wanna piece together my own cooler?
i like the permacool Maxi-cool junior ones with the fans, but i want to use SS lines...good fittings....etc.

At my usual 5K the first time I removed my oil drain plug
After the cooler was installed, the oil seem to look as if it only had 3K on it, so now I'm draining at 10K with periodic checking. I've always used full synthetic oil since the engine had 30K and now I'm at 106+K. The cooler has been in since about 70K. My main concern was pressure drop, because with any type of coolers (air,liquid,etc) a drop will occur. I've already installed a t-fitting with a oil pressure sender but have yet to installed the gauge to keep a eye on the pressure. As someone mentioned, another concern of mine was the deterioration of the rubber hose. To keep the price down, I purchased a Hayden cooler and used rubber hose suited for motor oil. Now, these hose I check more periodic than the oil itself, because the slightest noticeable crack and it's time to change the hose. What really sucks is that I can only see the condition of the OD of the hose and not ID. I used one of those sandwich adapters placed between the oil filter and base which lowered the filter about 2"

The Permacool 250hp cooler fit my max just fine. You even get to switch to a larger oil filter, one from a Ford V8, the stock maxima oil filter is crapy small. It took some creative hose routing, but its fine. Oil pessure is fine also, between 15 & 20psi at idle. For ~$90 its a good deal.

I installed it more as a piece of mind item. Because I'm supercharged and it gets really hot in New Orleans I thought it was a good idea.
