Oil light flickers at stops (sometimes)

Checked your oil level lately? My guess is that you currently have less than 2 quarts of oil in the motor.

The light is flickering because the car Is low on oil. Check and make sure the oil level Is not to severly low because you will turn your rod bearings and then the engine will get damaged then you will feel sorry.

Wow, your car is dropping to 6000rpm at idle? sometimes even to 7000? Didn't even know our cars can go to 7k.
Anyways as said check the level first, I can't believe that you would even come on here and post a question about your oil light without having even checked the freaking oil.

Idiot light is on = check the ******* oil!!!

I actually just checked. I had it unplugged yesterday to trace the bad wire for the Crank sensor...seems fine now that I took it off and made sure it was on correctly =0)

Still throwing a code for the knock sensor, I thought it takes some other code to give a KS code???

Not if the knock sensor is faulty, which is the entire point of having fault codes...

Check the oil level, if it's OK then change the oil pressure switch, it's known to fail on our car, usually it leaks.

Hey guys, just did CV axles yesterday on my car. It has a pretty bad oil leak, but I keep on top of it by checking and refilling as necessary, not sure yet if it's the pan or something else, but it's about 1qt a month. Anyway, put oil in it this weekend as well.

Today on my way to work, there were no issues initially (other than it was 15 degrees outside), however at a stop light just before my work, the oil light started flickering. When I took off, it stopped. Then I pulled into the parking lot at my work and it started flickering again.

What are the chances knocked the oil pressure switch loose while doing the axles? Where exactly is this switch located on the pan?

You're right there, so there's a good chance, especially considering the timeline.

my oil pressure light came on one time when i first started my car up it was like 20 degrees outside, so i turned the car off cheked the oil, it was fine so i turned the car on and no light. Anyways i went to get a oil change after that. 2 days later the same thing happened but i turned the car off waited a little then turned back on and light was still there, about a min or two later it finally turned off. Oil pressure switch?

Oh.. not good. Maybe I was tired this morning, but I went out at lunch to check my oil and its overfilled. It just at the bend in the dipstick. Not sure how much over that is. Anyway, I started it up and drove it around the parking lot and the light didn't come back on... I have no way of draining oil at work, so my options are drive immediately to oil change place, or drive it home and drain oil there, or leave it...

I guess it depends on how far over the bend is above the H line on the stick... any ideas? What would you do in this situation?

Edit: I know I'm an idiot, it was cold this morning, I checked it, added oil, then didn't check it again as I didn't want to wait 10 minutes in the 15 degree weather... ARGH!

Just a thought, but couldn't you just replace the oil filter? Wouldn't have the mess of draining the oil pan and it might get rid of the overfill.

6k or even 7k? ho do even manage to stop with that kind of idle? i am really hoping u have put an extra 0 in ur numbers cuz 600 or 700 is the highest idle a 4th gen should have.

You could always connect a wet gauge and get a pressure reading. But i would check the electrical connection first, possibly loose.... If not loose, take the wet gauge reading... should be more than 10 psi @ idle, 1995-98 @ 3000 rpm 63-79 psi, 1999@ 2000 rpm 56.6 psi
