Small rubber gear in the window regulater?

Well, I have been having alot of problem with my windows lately. I found out along time ago, that both passenger side front and rear windows have screwed rubber gears. I went to my local auto parts store, and they said I will most likely will need to buy a brand new regualter, I was like, "Yea right, at $40.+ I will say no". I really would hate to buy 2 new or used window regulaters, when I can just replace the rubber gear inside the window regulater.

I'm pretty good with fixing it myself,. In plent of other cars I've worked on, I made my own brakets, mounts, ect., but this time, I cant find anything strong enough to hold it.

What I need to know is, can I replace the rubber gear? How can I take the rest of the gear out(by the center metal piece)? Also, if I were able to replace it, how much will the rubber gear cost, brand new or used?

Thanks.

I've looked at literly every salvage/junk yard around here, I even went to a place called "Pick-And-Pull" in Panama City Beach, no 95-99 maxima there!!! I got annoyed when I called up almost every junk yard/salvage yard, when they all said, "Try back in a month", or "Nope, no Maxima's here, sorry sir." I can try to wait 2 weeks, but I would like them now. They need to be in good condition, no lil' cracks.

I still didnt get a answer, can I replace just the small rubber gear thing?

That's inappropriate. You don't know his situation.

Ok, if your so rich, and can just throw away forty bucks, then go ahead and buy me 2 regulaters!

I'm 18 years old, trying to get a place to live, and have a car that I have to pay for, and to top it all off, I dont got a job yet. I've went everywhere to get a simple job, nothing.

ThurzNite, thanks for that.

njmaxseltd, thanks for taking hat you said back.

befor you spend your money on regulators, check on this...
iirc, the rubber gear doesnt come with the reg,it comes with the actual motor.
yeh, I am pretty sure of it .I am sure someone can confirm or rebute it though.
hope this helps

The rubber insert is part of the window motor and can not be replaced. You don't need regulators you need window motors. Sorry, the motors are more expensive than the regulators. I tried to repair a motor on my car by using epoxy to replace the rubber part. It worked a few times then quit, I think the give of the rubber is needed for the window to work properly.

Is there wawy to just take the rest of the rubber off? Like that center part, because if I can take the center part off, then I can fix it, and it will work. Right now, theres just enough crap in there to hold it from sliding down.
