Quick question about axle removal

I having little trouble pulling my passenger side axle out. Don't have a service manual and can't remember exactly how to do it now. I did it years ago on my old max and didn't have any problems then. My question is where am I supposed to pry it apart, #1 mark or #2? Thanks guys

Number 1.

Also, try installing one of the three bolts only a few turns, then hitting the head with a hammer. Might help jar it loose.
You may have to use a long drift, since a hammer probably won't go in there.

I replaced both my axles last year. What a PIA. Seriously those bishes were stuck in there!

I literally just grabbed the axle, and pulled as hard as I could! When it came out I was pulling so hard I flew backwards and landed on my back!

^^^^^ HaHa Thats pretty much what happened to me. I just kept yankin on the bish until it finally broke loose. Putting it back in was a little easier.

Remember to put some anti-seize on the support bearing when you install the new axle, to make it easier for next time.

I just did both axles, and I removed the axle with the whole bracket. I just removed the 3 screws holding the bracket to the block and wiggled the whole assembly out. Once removed it's easy to remove the bracket from the axle.

I've been trying to replace the passenger side CV axle on my 6 speed 2002 Maxima. I am on my 3rd axle and all three are approximately 2-3 inches short. Any ideas as to what the correct part number is. I've given all the important info to the parts people: 3.5 litre 6 speed, 2002......... and they keep giving me the same length part. I've even used different parts dealers.

Are you getting these from parts stores?

They're giving you axles for the 4AT.

Probably the only place you're going to be able to get one is raxles, the classifieds here, or a junkyard.
