The DEFINITIVE Summer Tire Thread
Since the All Seasons and Winters got their own threads....
Post your reviews of Extreme Performance Summer, Max Performance Summer, UHP Summer, etc here. If possible, please post all information such as tire size, mileage, tire pressure, driving style, road conditions, price you paid, where you bought them, rims they are mounted on, etc etc. Anything that is useful information.
Obviously, TireRack already has tons of reviews, but it might be useful compiling what people on this forum have on these cars.
Here's what I dug up in the little time I had:
BFG G Force T/A KDW
Falken FK-452
General Exclaims
Kumho Ecsta SPT
Sumitomo HTR Z III

My experience with a couple...
Dunlop Sport SP01 in 235/40/18, used for about 5000 miles.
Pros: Got them with about 50% tread and they have great wet and dry traction, firm sidewalls, great steering response, and are really quiet (relative to my AS Proxes and Falken 512). These are still decent on dry pavement even with 20-30% tread.
Cons: Tread wears quick on these, even though I did get them used. At 20-30% tread, wet traction has deteriorated significantly.
ContiSportContact 2 in 235/40/18, used for about 3000 miles
Pro: Steering response is good.
Cons: Got these with about 30-40% tread and they are already practically unusable. Dry traction is decent, but squeal like a stuck pig as soon as I push the car around bends. Wet traction almost non-existent. Sidewalls aren't as stiff as the SP01s and overall traction way inferior for similar tread depth. They are also loud as hell.
Why am I using used tires with 50% or less tread? Mainly shopping around to find a set that I like before dropping the cash on an entire new set. Yes, I might as well just save the money and get a nice new set to begin with, but I've gotten all these for nothing off Craigslist and forums, and I do like that I get to try various tires even if I'm paying a little more in the end overall.

So far with my Sumitomo Z3s. Not much to say other than they are quieter than my Yokohama ES100s and they also dont wander as much. Cant say too much else as I havent really tested them. Just driving around town. They also like to get rocks stuck in the treds.
