Finally installed Stereo in 6.5 Maxima

So guys, I have finally installed the stereo in my 07 Maxima. I went with the Pioneer AVIC-700BT, Polk db 6.5 compontents on the front doors, Polk db 6.5 coaxial on the rear door, and Polk Momo 6X9 on the rear deck (these serve as my subs). This is all being powered by a JL A6450 6 channel amp and it is all nice tucked inside the factory trunk cover (looks stock). As soon as I figure out how to post picture up in here I will. it sounds amazing, nice crisp sound without the rattle and shaking of a 16 year old's car with subs in it. Speakingon popsting pics up in here, do I have to post the pics on another website and then link the picture directly here or can I simply upload my pictures directly to this site?

You need to upload your pics to a image hosting site like Photobucket and link them here.

Looking forward to the pics!

you can go to usercp tab and go to pictures & albums tab, then select add album and upload your pictures.. then when you post in a thread use html.. right click on your picture and select view source or properties copy the address starting from http to .jpg and when you want to post a picture in a thread put exactly without quotations "[img}{/img] and in between (replace }{ with ][) ][ paste the address.. that's how you post a picture..

you must be new to the audio world because everybody knows the Avic700BT is crap, you can't be getting perfect sound or power to your speakers cause your radio only puts out 2.2volts for outputs and only has a 3band equalizer, high-mid-low. One other note it doesn't even read DVD cd's even if you wanted to load just mp3s on a DVD CD. I recommend do some research and use the money u spent on that deck and get something better.

You probably should tone it down a bit. Bashing someone's creativity when they aren't asking your opinion is a not constructive critism. I definitly have done things different with my setup too, but I understand, not everyone has the same taste as I do.

I think Polk was a great choice. If you really want to get the most out of those speakers I recommend looking into getting either a 4 channel or a 6 channel amp. If you want to figure out what type of amp you need or how to set one up, Rockford Fosgate has a great tool on thier website. Let me see if I can find it again. You can also just ask. There is a section on the forums for audio and alot of knowledge in there. Ohh and post some pics allready.

in for bashing..lol...no but seriously...if yoiu like the sound, thats all that matters. I read that you can't hook an after market deck up to a 4th gen bose system using the stock speakers, but i did it. Without that adaptor thing they say you need. It sounds great. It's what you like...

Congrats....Is the unit ok or is it as bad as this other dude says it is? I like to get user perspectives on this stuff because my understanding of audio is limited.

Below are the pictures of the install

To the guy who bashed me... I got the 700BT from an authorized Pioneer dealer from Amazon for $350 (they had it priced incorrectly and I was able to get my hands on it), plus is does everything I wanted/was looking for. Who uses DVDs to play their MP3 when there iPod/MP3 around???? Also I don't need to watch a movie in my car because it is a CAR not my living room (that's what my 52" SONY XBR6 and PS3 with a Harman Kardon receiver and Polk RTi speakers are for). Plus I am not 16 anymore and don't just want thumping bass, I am into overall sound quality.

Regarding the amp, it's a 6 channel amp from JL A6450 and it is powering all the speakers and they sound crisp. As you can see the amp is mounted by hanging from the rear deck so that the trunk cover can be placed (I wanted my vehicle not tp "display what I actually have) over it. In order to keep the display which shows MPG/MPH/DTE I installed the Metra NIRD-01. The only thing that is wrong with this is that the dimming wire is actually the illumination wire so you'll need to tap to the red/light blue wire that goes into the dimmer switch (with a T-tap) and then connected to the illumination wire on the AVIC-F700BT in order for the headunit to dim when your headlights switch/turn on (other than that everything else works great). I paid less than ~$950 for everything, Crutchfield had the amp and the MMC690s on clearance (less than $350 for both and got a free amp installation kit), got the headunit as I mentioned before for $350, and the remainder polk speakers and metra installation kit from Sonicelectronix for $250.

Also I recently drove to FL and was in the car for ~10 hours (only stopped for gasoline) and the amp never overheated. It has 1.5" of clearance and the minimum clearance according to JL was 1". Hopefully, this will help someone out. I have also tapped into the trunk light wires and will be adding another trunk light that I will connect so that it sticks out of the factory opening on the trunk cover.

1) there is NOTHING wrong with 2.2 volts preout. Even with say a 5 volt preout...you won't see that output unless your volume is turned up to the max. do you drive around with max volume, and clipping the hell out of your amps?

2) 3-band equalizers is fine for most users.

3) SPQ isn't a catagory. Real men know it's SQL.

x2 , the differences in preout voltage will not be audible, 3 band parametric is fine for most listeners, uh yeah... its SQL

Nene503,

Do you have any pics of the door panels and the comps (tweeters) mounted? You did a nice job on the install. I'm waiting for the weather to break so I can get started on my install. I've also got a silver SE w/ leather...didn't think I'd car for the color, but it has definitely grown on me!

All the speakers where installed in the factory location with no problem. I didn't take pics because once I'm into a project I don't like taking time off to take pics (it's my self-diagnosed OCD). I had to remove the center facia around the OEM radio and then there are a couple of screews to unscrew and the whole unit comes out.

to install it into the Maxima, you'll need the instalation kit from Metra or Scosche. Don't forget about getting the factory antena adaptor.

yeah what he said, since the wife's car has the factory bose, i had to get all that stuff....plus i did some research on mp3car and avic411...and the fact that you could put a picture on the SD card and use that as the boot screen for when the head unit is starting up is pretty cool.
