Outside air only when AC or Heat is on..

Everytime I turn on the HEAT for now Since winter

I can only turn it on when the air is comin from outside...

Everytime I press the button for the air to circulate in the car... and try to turn the heater on... The AC button goes on as well...

I dont understand why

Is this normal?

Yes, just adjust the red/blue temp button for desired temp...

a/c turns on because it is also a de-humidifier which will keep your inside windows from fogging up.

The air conditioning (A/C) is activated as a default when the recirculation option is chosen in conjunction with heat. Nissan programmed the computer within the car to work in this fashion so that the automobile's interior windows would not fog, and thus obscure your vision. There will usually be more heat, humidity and moisture inside your automobile when there is no exterior air circulation. The heat and moisture will form a fog on your windows under most recirculating / heating conditions. The A/C will usually compensate for this effect by keeping the warm air from forming into fog-like water droplets on your car's interior windows.

Gottchya!

So which way should I run the heat then?.... With the AC mode on and circulation... or AC mode off... and air from outside?

It also comes on to keep the desired temp you selected at that temp if you have it set to Auto and change the temp to 65 the AC will come on

Yea its normal, pissed me right off when I got my 08. I broke my right hand and had to use the auto heat cause I couldnt play with the heat. I would always have to turn the A/C. off .... Winter in upstate ny.... Umm dont need the A/C please its already 4 deg... if I want it Ill turn it on. Sorry the a/c always turning on is the BIGGEST annoyance of the max

This drives me crazy as well. I should be able to make it do exactly what I want! Not what Nissan thinks is best.
