Repair Fog Light / Remove glass
Hi all,
I need to remove the glass lens on one of my fogs, to fix a crack and clean out the grunge left from getting water in the crack. Is there a way to remove the lens without breaking it or the plastic housing? After that, what adhesive will hold it back in place?
Thanks,
Jack

No, once upon a time about 6 yrs ago I had a brand new 2003 Max and with 2 months both foglights were damaged from flying F.O.D.! I price replacement lense and it was cheaper to buy the entire foglight kit than just the lense!
Never done it, but I THINK you can bake it at low heat in an oven to relase the sealant MUCH like the way guys have done with their headlight housings.
I'm sure you can go to a pepboys or even home depot to find a suitable replacement sealant to reseal, but I can't tell you what it is.
--again, check the boys who've done the bake-n-peel on the headlamps!--
Do a search - you'll find it.
If you're too cheap/tight to buy a new set (it IS the best route to buy the kit, I've done it also) BAKE 'Em!! --you can be the PIONEER of this mod to foglamps!!!
I bought new lamps last spring due to cracked and chipped originals, and I put the thin film 3m guard on mine. They STILL look new...so if you're gonna spend $175 on the kit...do yourself a favor and buy the 3m guard!
Oh- and get the HID's to retrofit as well!
good luck.
