Bandimere Street Tuner Mayhem *Video added*

Sunday 6/7/09 Bandimere held their annual Street Tuner Mayhem

I was the only Maxima in the whole place. There were a couple of 350z and a G35coupe and an Altima SE-R that decided not to run after he pulled a couple of 16second ETs on his test runs.

Remember take about 1.2 off of all ET times you see in this thread to adjust for altitude.

This 350 was dialed in at 15.9??

This G was running in the 14.99 and faster category.

I entered the show and race contests, got nothing in either one. I like to enter the show just because, but I know I’ve got a few issues (headlights scratched, a few buttons missing on the trunk liner trim and a few random nicks in the paint) Still need to paint the calipers too

See next post ...........

So I wasn’t terribly upset but considering the competition I knew I wasn’t coming near first place.

I was more disappointed that I got knocked out of the racing in the 2nd round. I think they went 6 to 8 rounds

My launch technique the whole time was foot on the brake foot on the gas. No power braking at all. I got in there and hit my first practice run right away with a 15.615ET which actually wasn’t too bad. For that one I lined up with a TR7 or some sort of little two door coupe and destroyed him when he pulled like a 16.8 at 83mph.

I did back to back practice runs and ran a 15.654ET This time I lost to a car I had the jump on through the first 1000ft. The whole race is only 1320ft and then he passed me like I was standing still while he ripped off a 15.486ET at 101mph. (corrected that’s 108mph) I’m thinking he hit the NO2 or something. It was pretty crazy.

So I dialed in at 15.59 thinking I would go faster for the first elimination race in about 2.5hrs.
You can see they write you time on you windows before you race. You can also see the line for the Super Stock category I was in. It was the biggest group of racers.

1st round elimination
I was lined up with a Crossfire, kind of riced out but you never know. He was dialed in at 15.00 flat, so I got a head start by .59seconds, I crushed him sooo bad, poor guy ran a 17.1 at 82mph. I slowed down before the end so as not to break out. I don’t know what he was doing. I talked to him afterwards and he never raced his car and just guessed at 15 flat.
I end up with a 16.144 at 78mph as I crossed the finish line before him.

2nd round elimination
I lined up with an older Acura 2 door. He was dialed in at 17.6 so he got a 2.01 second head start. Man, that seems like a long time when your sitting there watching a guy drive away and you only have 1/4mile to catch him. I should have known when I left the prestage area and spun my tires that the car was feeling stronger than usual, I launched good and got quickly into 2nd gear and started to reel him in, it seemed to take a long time but I was closing fast, I finally caught him near the end and beat him to the finish line only to find out I lost because I broke out and ran a 15.377 and I was eliminated. You can’t run faster than the time you tell them. I would never have guessed I would get down there without power braking. 15.377 is my new best time.

All in all it was fun too bad I didn’t have a camera man to grab some vids.
I have some vids of other cars until my battery died and I'll post some other pics up later too.

Does your brother post up in the "Colorado Peoples" thread in the regional section? I had been posting there for weeks that it was taking place and that I was going.

I can understand though because the weather has been terrible here now for three week, rain in the afternoon every single day. Heck there were tornados the day of the races in Colorado, they were just further east. Rain is great for the lawns but not for racing and car shows

So with adjustment for altitude, I'm running a solid 14.2 n/a. I'm fairly happy with that for the moment. I still haven't tried a block off plate or a UDP (lower ticket items). Plus I always run on my chrome. It'skind of a big ticket item to get some lighter weight 17s or even SE-R wheels. Other big ticket options are a chip flash or NO2.

Here's a few more pics:

Nifty little drift cars were there, that looks like fun:
