After market fog lights

After my lovely mishap with an idiot in an is250awd lexus loner car, who tried to make a left into a 2 way street coming out of a parking lot pulled out into the interection and came to a dead stop infront of me causing my 98 se to tap his rear bumber, which lead to his loaner car needing a few bumper clips and a reflector,,,, (ins company told my ins company that it was 2,000 bucks to fix.... total bs!) and i had callled a cop and he labled no one at fault even though i rear ended him so to speak..... the idiot had a huge 7 inch navigation screan placd infront of his steering wheel against the windsheild he said he didnt see the cars coming because he was looking at the navi.... what and idiot.... sorry back to the point, im almost ready to get a new bumber cover etc but my fog lights have since stoped working and im thinking about just replacing them with a set of aftermarket ones from like pepboys or autozone, before i do so i was wondering if anyone on here has any suggestions to a pair of after market fog lights that are reasonably inexpensive and look good on a 4th gen se. i love the look of the 4th gen fogs the car came with but im not willing to spend the money to replace them or even fix um..... any suggestions and or pics of some good looking 4th gens with aftermartket fogs would be apreciated!

If you search up "fog lights" there should be a thread named something like "Show us your aftermarket fog lights" and there are a ton of pictures of people who have those round Wal-Mart ones and some rectangle ones and all that.

But the thing I don't know how to do is wire them up, I have the harness for fog lights but I don't know how to wire it to the fog lights

Aren't there only like 2 wires? A positive and negative?

Just use a T-tap and connect positive to positive, negative to negative. Easy.

IMO you should not go aftermarket, I'm still trying to clean up the tape mess leftover from the previous owner's aftermarket fog light mounts... Just be glad our cars came with spaces in the bumper for them and that you have a OEM route.

Ricey Civic's.

But they are color coded differently, and I don't want to burn any fuses or anything testing things out. But I have ZERO electrical experience and so...I might need a LOT more help with the basic wiring and stuff................................. hahahah

where are you planning on tapping them from? i used my bumper lights as my power source and used a relay, and upgraded that 5 amp fuse in the fuse box.

If you use the bumper lights, theres only 2 wires no matter what, i can't remember which is which, but you can use an ohm meter and find out, or if i get a chance i can let u know which wire is which soon

The aftermarket fogs should have instructions as to which is positive and which is negative.

Why would you do all that when the stock wires are already there....?

Id do all that, because i don't have a fog switch on my stalk, and this way when i turn my lights on, the fogs go on and when i turn my parking lights on, the fogs go on without the headlights

Well...you could have just picked up a switch with the fog switch. I think I got mine for like $15 shipped. To each his own though

Or just ditch the fogs...

They don't actually do anything useful, in terms of lighting. The 4th gen looks cleaner without foglights anyway. But whatever you do, don't put some ricey aftermarket fogs in there.

My car had factory foglights on it forever... took them off a few months ago, they're sitting in a box in my basement, and haven't missed them one bit.

No no no, I meant the wires on my HARNESS is different, its not RED or BLACK like the wires on the after market fog lights. On mine its something like green and orange or something.

But anyways I am just asking for the future reference, so I'll just wait for someone who has done it and see what they have done.

But its no big deal, I don't think those Wal-Mart fog lights will look good on my car anyway and so I just wanted to know for the fun of it.

Oh, that's easy, just look them up in a Haynes Manual or the FSM. (check Pmohr's sig for FSM links)

Now that you put it that way, I think I will go out and buy one of those Wal-Mart fog lights, I am having a hard time convincing myself not to buy them and see how they look

Oh and I just read over my posts and it does sound like I was asking REALLY REALLY obvious questions, sorry haha

Wal-mart fog lights are terrible. Almost everyone I know of that has bought them has ended up with a broken lense. And no.. putting the wal-mart fogs inside of the headlamp is not an acceptable solution

OEM FTW

Matter of opinion.

To the OP: if you just look around for the right ones, your Max will look good.

My car with Hellas

And they light up the road like no other fogs i've ever used.

Hella != Walmart

Your fogs are properly designed foglights. The walmart ones have a blue tinted polycarb lens, an annoying blue or rainbow angel eye, and are a pain in the *** to open in order to change the crappy Chinese H3 bulb.
