Airbag Control Module Part Numbers (what years can be swapped)

I am hunting down a used airbag control module for my 99 GXE and I have a question about the part numbers.

My 99 GXE doesnt have side airbags and I found a salvaged 98 GXE without side airbags that has a intact SRS system. I pulled the airbag control module and the part number on the side is a bit different from the number on my 99.

The 99 GXE part number is 28556 4L600
The 98 GXE part number is 28556 1L260

I need to know if I can use the 98 module in my 99. Anyone know if the two years can be swapped?

It should function the same, best I can tell. Same connector pinout, everything seems to be the same.

Thanks pmohr, I figured they are the same but I just wanted to check. Didnt want to install it and have something go all haywire with the system. You wouldnt happen to know if replacing the airbags and module is all I need to do in order to reset the system would you?

FYI, the module worked fine. SRS system is back up and running. So anyone who checks out this post in the future knows that its just the first number that matters.

As I recall, the SRS in the 95-97 are very similar and in 98(99) they changed it.

IIRC, the airbags module for the 99 had a slightly different programming for the airbags to deploy a fraction of a second faster. Whatever it is, it will work fine in you application.
