Checking out my voltage on my hazard and my defroster buttons

I have been having problems with my defroster button and the hazad

buttons, there not lighting up,but however the buttons are doing the job there

supposed to do when I want them in use. I want to know what do I have to do

to get the buttons lighting up the board again. I have the ohm voltage reader

and how do I use the ohm voltage reader.

Thanks

Using the FSM, look in the electrical section in interior lighting. Find where it talks about those buttons, and figure out which pins on the connector power the lights. Write down the numbers or draw a small diagram of the connector and then go out to your car. rip your dash apart and unplug the harness to the buttons. Using the pinout of the connector, switch your meter to resistance mode and take a reading across the two pins that connect to the bulb. For a three watt bulb, the resistence should be around 50 ohms on a 12 volt system.

I just downloaded the FSM and I looked at the EL section, It did not really

tell me anything about what pin goes into where. Is there a section that

you know of and you can pinpoint it to me. Thanks.

Thanks.

Did you check to see if the bulbs are burnt out? Very common as both switches use two bulbs. One illuminates it, one indicates the device is on. You can get replacement bulbs at Radio Shack. Just reuse the colored sleve on the original bulb.

I finally got the time to tear up the dash, so I can take a look into the switches. I am using the ohm reader and I have it set on resister mode and i am getting a 41 ohm instead of a 50 ohms on the defroster button. If I want to look at the bulb what do I have to do.

The switch is two pieces that are held together by tabs. You need a small screwdriver to very carefully pry the switch apart at these tabs.
