headers problem... Step in

I'll try to make this quick. The y pipe I have after installing headers doesn't have any bungs for the o2's that go on there. I have the o2 sims ready and the o2 sensors..but no bungs to plug them into... Does anyone know where I can order the bung size that will withstand the heat? I'd get a exhaust shop to weld them on. Also If I just have them weld them on where the stock ones should be I won't need to extend my o2's correct?

Mainly askin for the site where I can order them from because I have no idea where to even start looking.. And yes, I tried home-depot.

haha, thanks.

Most muffler shops will have O2 bungs of their own to weld on.

Call around, some exhaust shops keep O2 bungs in stock.

lol noooo, I thought i had the o2 sims. Just the spacers though, I mistyped that. If I had them already I wouldn't worry about bungs.

The front o2 sensor that meets at the front of the y howeverrr, (here's the fun part) wouldn't budge so it's sittin on my stock y. I'm assuming I have to get that out and plug it in and have it ducttaped as well with the o2 sim to have everything running well?

Thanks for the quick replies btw

Ok,shi* I just realized something, The sims are for the rear... I have the front o2 that connects on the header plugged in as well as the rear that goes ONLY on the header. The ones on the y however are both not plugged in.

Will an o2 sim even help me in this case? That's why I wanted to weld bungs on. If that's making sense..

You need both upstream o2s. Those are the ones before the y pipe. They collect info for the computer to keep the proper fuel mix.

You don't need the downstream o2s. All they do is tell if the precats are working properly and throw a code if they aren't. Obviously the precats aren't going to work again. Just get the o2 simulator and strap the o2 sensors somewhere under the hood. You still need them wired up because they're heated and the computer will notice if they're not drawing current. You'll get a code for that too.

You can completely eliminate the secondary o2's. Use the sim to keep the ECU happy and use (2) 10ohm 10watt resisters wired in series for each o2's heater circuit.

This way you don't have to keep your sensors just dangling there.

I run this setup and I never get codes.

Bought the resisters at Radioshack. They're ceramic and about 2 inches long.

Yeah, that's a weird thing. Some people have gotten a CEL right away and some never do. I drove around for a few weeks before it threw a code and I put the sim in.

We don't have inspections here in Florida so it's not much of an issue. I was wondering if anyone has passed inspection wothout the sim in place?

My inspections in a while but what's getting to me is my drop in gas milage.. Lost avg of 70miles off my tank.

Also with a cel in a state that requires inspection, You can't pass. Iirc..

Man, floridas got no laws. No tint laws/inspection, and iirc no helmets needed on bikes.
Damn.
hahahaa

Like people have stated you need your primary o2 sensors working and your secondary o2 sensors just simulate them. And if you do not have bungs for them, tie them somewhere.
But please do not do what Hotshotvq35 did because that is just fugly.

The drop in mileage could mean you're running rich and need a tune after instaling the headers. Most of the time the car will run very rich after intake and exhaust mods.

You may want to use something better than tape on the o2 sensors since they're self heating. They get pretty hot and will probably wear out the tape after a while.

You sure you aren't losing 70 miles per tank because you are getting into the gas more often with the headers? I gained gas mileage (when driving normally *cough*) after headers and exhaust.

I am running rich atm. And I thought the same thing. I got on my car about the same as I did before but I'm fillin up today and going to see where that gets me. Usually I can get half a tank of city driving to 150mpg so we'll see...
