Aftermarket Cabin Air Filters

Well a new year and about time to once more replace my Cabin Air Filter.

Has anyone been able to find an after market Cabin Air Filter that fits? Unfortunately, most of the auto part suppliers around me still have filters listed that wont fit. So I'm looking for empirical data here, not what google says.

Granted, when I replaced it last year, the OEM from Nissan was only $20 or so not real bad, just not convenient to get to and I was hoping to get hold of the odor as well as dust filter I've seen advertised for other cars.

Yeah I've been trying to locate the Bosch charcoal filter but to no avail, here is a link at WIX for the 09 Maxima and an article about WIX cabin air filters by Popular Mechanics.

Yep, You see my problem..the wix is a standard OEM type. Not one of the newer charcoals or their ilk like the Bosch you mentioned. At least the spec is the right size!

Have you considered shopping online for your Nissan Maxima aftermarket auto parts? I see a whole lot of aftermarket auto part dealers selling their products online. In fact, Replacement Auto Parts supplier 1aauto.com is offering great deals on Nissan Maxima cabin air filters. They even guarantee to ship your product on the same day and offer hassle-free return if you’re unhappy with a part. Their website has detailed product description for each part, so you can make an informed decision. And you need not worry about their credentials as they have an A+ rating with BBB and have also won Bizrate Circle of Excellence Award three years in a row.

I prefer to do business with Brick and Mortar shops to support my "local" economy whenever I can. If I ever need to return something there is no hassle with the postoffice/fedex/ups/pick a mailer, and I can talk face to face and draw pictures if required.

RockAuto.com lists both Wix and Bosch, as well as Fram's Freshbreeze. Most NAPA's can get Wix.

If it is a Fram Freshbreeze CF10140 it's too small and will not fit. I just tried mine.

The CF10140 is for the 6th generation, another case of not updating their information... I found one source for the correct filter, partsgeek.com for $8.75; however, it's not the charcoal filter, just the standard replacement. The charcoal replacement filters are generally very stiff and heavy compared to the standard filters, the filter opening in the Maxima is substantially smaller than the filter itself, so you have to squish it down, push it through the opening, and then it expands back to original size once inside the housing. You cannot easily crush the charcoal filters, so I think it's going to be difficult to find a charcoal replacement. I replaced mine at 14K miles and was shocked as to how dirty it was. Hope this helps!

I have to agree, I purchased the INCORRECT Charcoal filter, so I had to resort to the OEM Nissan filter. I had to squish the filter down to get it in there, and it was not easy to get in. Since the charcoal filters are stiff, I don't think I will attempt to buy one next year. I most likely will go with the OEM filter again. And at least my local stealership they are about the same price as the aftermarket units. Plus you get the right size, the first time.

Yes, but as mentioned above you have to squish the filter to about 2/3 height to fit it through the opening of the filter door. I have found that the charcoal filters are possibly too stiff to achieve that squish.

If anyone has used and been able to squish the Fram Fresh Breeze CF10550, then please chime in on your experiences.

But again until i hear different, I am still going with the OEM filter.

I purchased one but the dealer just performed a service and changed the filter on me so I haven't tried it yet. It does look like the correct unit for what that is worth.

I couldn't even find the CF10550. Are we positive this is the right one?

LOL, I couldn't find it anywhere either. But the website for Fram shows this for the Altima which others have said is the same. The Nissan Part Number is 27277-JA00A

My filter was pretty dirty so I picked one up at the dealer since my car was in for service. I later went to Autozone to compare prices and found them only $1 less than the dealer price.

Sorry to revive this thread, but I purchased the CF10550. It was slightly smaller than the OEM one when I held them next to each other. At any rate, I installed it, but it seems a little small. There is some wiggle room after popping the filter into the slot. Can anyone share their experience with the CF10550? Thanks!

What will be interesting to note with your CF10550, is how well it eliminates odors from the AC unit over time. At this point, I intend to replace with the OEM filter again in the spring.

i have been looking at house charcole filters at home depot u can cut them to size and get a few out of it for 10.00 also e bay has a roll of charcole that u could staple or super glew to an oem filter. regardless with the exception of a charcole filter any sented filter would last the same as an air freshner in a vent.
