Hyundai Cars
Okay, is it me or do Hyundai cars look at lot like cars from other companies?? On page 39 of december's Road & Track. You will see an add for Hyundai's XG300. It looks exactly like a Q45! Or a new I30. The tiburon looks like a rip off of the integra and the celica. They have a new small SUV out that looks a lot like the CR-V. Doesn't hyundai bother designing cars anymore??

I'd rather them make ugly cars than make imitation ones. I like the way the new I30 looks. I like it alot. I don't need to see a Hyundai namebadge on a look alike car. It just pisses me off.

I know what you mean about the Q45. The first time I saw the TV commercial for the new Hyundai, I thought it was an Infiniti commercial.
I agree with Lordrandall on the Maxima thing - the 5th gen is no beauty queen. My dad was going to get one, but he canceled his order when he saw it.

The Korean cars design
is a result of a great hurry. They want to seize all the markets. Hiundays look like the Y2k Max, not vice versa. But Max wasn't ahead because Nissan prefers to build a quality cars. It takes more time.
Nevertheless Max Y2k is ugly. 1\2 Gen. Max have a better body design, then 3 Gen, then 4th... What should we expect in the future?

What's wrong with copying other cars? Especially better ones?
Many car companies copy each other. The Honda Accord and Toyota Camry are very similar looking from far away. The Lexus LS430 is a direct knockoff of the Mercedes S-class.
When you compete in a tight market like passenger sedans, companies make a decision to either build a clone (like Hyundai) or something unique (like the 2k Maxima). Building a clone is safe but boring. Uniqueness is lauded only if it sells. So it's a risk either way.
Hyundai has gotten a lot better over the years. Let's just put it this way. I think that Hyundai's are more reliable than domestic cars from Ford, GM, Dodge. Plus I think Hyundai's long warranty has really helped it to sell a lot of cars. Give the company some time. Even Toyota had a hard time when it came over to the US in the late 50's, early 60's.
