Aftermarket Radiator options

Looking to upgrade my radiator to an all aluminium dual core unit in my 01 AE. I have found a Mishimoto radiator for the 95-99 manual VQ, but nothing for the 2000-2003. I'm hoping to find something that'll just drop in.
Has anyone done this? And which radiator did you use? Please post any fitment issues you may have had. Or clearance issus with the fan.

I just got in my Koyo Radiator from a Sponsor in the Group Buy section. Looks pretty good, and is made to order. OEM fit.

I saw that, but I was thinking more on the lines of a performance upgrade rather than an OEM replacement.

Unless you are supercharged or turboed, the stock radiator should be more than adequate. You might have better luck asking this in the forced induction forum.

Thanks, going to put that on my to-do list for this spring. How did those bumper covers work out for you?

Are the statements these are advertised under not accurate then? I bought it under the assumption that they were better then OEM and geared towards more performance. I also read that Koyo's were performance oriented, or is that the aluminum core ones?

- Koyo's plastic tank and copper core radiators offer a great alternative to the more expensive all aluminum radiator.
- Koyo Brass/Copper Radiators provide 5 - 10% more cooling than standard radiators.
- Handles high revving, high performance motors better than stock.
- Perfect for Turbo Charged, Super Charged & Nitros Oxide equipped engines.
- Custom built OEM fit - All Koyo Radiator cores and tanks are specifically designed and built for each application. No universal fit parts are used. This ensures proper fit, just like your original equipment.

I tried getting a 2 row copper/brass and all aluminum radiator from Genesis and they never have the dam things in stock.....I personally think it's a ploy to lure ppl onto there site and eventually buy the cheap *** 1 core radiators

forgot to tell you that if you have a manual tranny the radiator is plug and play. but if you have an auto one, you will (probably) need to bypass your tranny cooler.

Thanks for the pics, looks good, that's high on my wish list now. I'm already running with a large external trans cooler so that wont be an issue.

Souleater- In your first pic, you have 2 braces bolted on your hood latch assembly that go down and outward. Did you put them there? My 01 AE doesn't have them. I just check pics of my previous 01 SE part out, and it didn't have them either.

So are you saying the Mishimoto doesn't have provisions for an Automatic trans? If not I'm not interested it's not good to run the transmission solely on an external auxillary cooler, the liquid to liquid is far more efficient than any air to air. The add-on style transcoolers are installed to supplement the liquid to liquid, not to support the trans by itself.....

I was reading about the difference between the auto trans radiators and the manual trans radiators recently. The only difference is the auto radiator has openings for the trans lines I think. If you were to get a radiator for a "manual" vehicle for your Automatic, you would juts have to run a separate Trans. cooler.

Interesting

Just to refresh this nice thread and adding something that i have experienced .

I was using a stock imported radiator from Japanese junked cefiro a32 . It was very nice and didn't have any problems with it on my boosted 99 . It has bigger tanks than stock rad . Temperature is stable At 186f Even with couple of runs. I was thinking for some upgrades so i went to mishimoto.

Later and still using mishimotos, well, im thinking going back to stock is much better . Mishimoto is grapping heat so fast and loosing it slowly . It doesn't stabilize the temperature. Hard to do any maintenance job on it . U need to cut the tanks off to clean up the cores . Im using it for like 6 years now with fans running when engine runs to just hold the temperature at 180f. And after some runs,, it goes to near 200f wich is the danger point for boosted cars. And will be back to stock rad soon
