Belt tension. Adjust it. Maybe loose.

While running, adjust your belt tensioner. Until you do not hear the noise. Do it slow. Nice and easy.

Note that you have to loosen the 14 mm bolt on the idler then you can turn the bolt to adjust. Once done, tighten the idler bolt.

I screwed up on this. Now I understand how they strip the strut hat bolt.

Sorry to steal post, but I replaced belts (no thanks to Haynes manual) which was a pain in my a$$.

They were squealing before b/c stretched... Now, it sounds like I have a supercharger...
The main drive belt is louder... Sound coming from front of motor.
120k on car... Do I need a belt tensioner or are my belts too tight?
They DEFINITELY aren't loose.

Thanks so much!

You can try adjusting the tension while the car is running and see if noise goes away.
