Horns. what do you have?
My 5.5 gen was broke into a few months back and stole my avic d3/sub/amp smashed both windows and f'd up all my wiring. All has been fixed. But that nite/am it happened i didnt so much as hear my alarm go off 30ft from my window. I ditched the factory alarm and was wondering what people are replacing there horns with. I was looking around at air horns but really dont want a compressor in my trunk to power it but didnt really find a "bolt in" replacement. Anyone reccomend something loud?
So you took out/uninstall the factory alarm? And now you don't have a remote/alarm system? If you want a good security alarm system, just go with aftermarket security system like viper and other good brands, they have their own horn and its loud.
You can get a small 20-25 PSI compressor that would probably mount right up in your engine bay for a set of airhorns. A member around here has a setup like that. I forget who. But he apparently loves it.
If you are looking for pure decibels for cheap you will want to get a set of Cadillac horns. If you look around for one of the older, higher end caddys you will find four horns on them their tones are A, C, D, F and all together sound like a train is coming.
If you are looking for something that will catch someone's attention and generate looks you can pick up a cheap Ooooga horn. I have one on my Bronco and when someone does mess with it and the sucker goes off they just bolt. They do have a pretty good decibel range to them but they aren't something that people are used to hearing anymore.
Another suggestion is to get an ultra-loud siren and mount it to the inside of the car, that way even if they drop your window and get in they won't want to stick around. If they do they won't be able to hear **** for a week.

I was looking for something a little louder. They only generate 115 decibels when stock is like 97 i believe.
You might have more luck looking for a compressor at your local hardware store. It would just be a matter of finding the horns elsewhere after that. But yeah, the Caddy horns are a good alternative, too.
along with the stock horns or the ones posted like yours. a little overbored but still cheaper then a full on air horn kit. also with both blowing 115 decibels and different sound its sure to get some attention.

The amp draw may be too much for the 4 horn without using the relay included with the horn kit. You could tap into one of the existing horn wires to signal the relay. You would have to find a different location for the hellas if you keep the OEM horn behind the grill. My second choice was to attach them to the lower radiator support.
Digitalbow- that sounds awesome, behind the impact bar is a nice place to mount them for protection.

The existing horns have relays on them, for a swap, it should be plug and play.
In fact I have a set of Bosch horns that I want to replace my OEM's but I can not seem to get my horn going if I wire it directly to the existing taps. I need to investigate further.

Interesting that you mention this. I have a set of these from an '89 in my Altima. We tig welded them onto a custom bracket that attaches behind the impact bar, where all four horns face downward and seem to project their tones much better than the OEM locations. While I used the OEM relay, I recommend delving into the specs and ensuring that you match the intended power draw appropriately. I'll have to dig up a picture, but here is a a quick snapshop with sound: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJYI4c7Wv44
dude, i want my horn to sound like that, 89 cady you say, witch model, will it be hard to do.??
The Junkyard is your friend, Caddys and Lincoln MK VIIIs because of the air-ride setup have pretty powerful little air compressors. From what I understand they generate enough pressure to drive Semi truck horns. Just another idea.
