I DO NOT own a 5th gen, but my buddy is doing an allignment and his passenger side wheel was negative 2.3 degrees. But on Alldata, it is talking about a Kingpin inclination.. can someone explain to me what that is and where it is? any photos would be of much help. thanks.

 

the kingpin is the large pin which locates the front control arm. it's held on with 4 bolts and is bolted to the frame(subframe?) or the car.



to the right in the picture you can see 4 bolts lined up in a row, the control arm etc...

 

The kingpin inclination is the angle, measured in degrees, that forms the line passing through the kingpin and the perpendicular to the ground, looking at the vehicle from the front.

So if you are sitting in the vehicle and you either tilt the top of the KP towards the rear axle you are increasing the KPI. Same thing applies goes if you push the bottom of the KP forward. The KP inclination gradually comes into affect adding grip to the front tires as you turn the wheel. Bassically, middle of the turn grip if were speaking racing terms.

 

And normal alignment would be adjusting Toe and Camber. Not sure why the KPI would be even worried about being that its a street car...Idk if theres even adjustment for that???
