Well, I am not sure how fast the new preludes are, but when I had my old 96 auto max (stock, no spare, less than 1/4 tank of gas) I ran right with a modified 5spd prelude (not an SI) at the track. He had intake exhaust ect.

Considering the specifics of your question, I think you are thinking about racing them and just want an idea before hand... Just do it and let us know the out come

 

he is not that great of a driver and he keeps talking junk to me and find friend(01 gle)
when me and my friend raced i had him until his car shifted in second, it just left

 

So the 01 GLE beat the 97 GLE?? both stock?? I got lost lol

 

see a while back i raced the 01 gle when i had intake i had him until 1st gear then he was gone



i said cuz sprint said the 97 will come ahead of the 01

 

Prelude auto. vs. Maxima auto. - MAxima wins.
Prelude 5spd. vs. Maxima 5spd. - depends on driver but most times Maxima wins.

Preludes can by pretty fast, but driver is gonna be a huge factor. I beat a newer VTEC 5spd when I was stock, but had he known how to really get the most out of his car he would've beat me. If he can't drive very well, you and your friend should beat him.

 

Today me and my friend were racing each other behind Mardigrasmax and the one of the new preludes were behind us and he saw me keep up with my friends GT up until 90MPH, and then I slowed down to see if he wanted to race me but he didnt want to race me at all. OOH well no big deal Ill find another one to pick on.
