I cant find the rattling in my car can you?

There is this rattling sound in my car(interior). it sounds like something rattled loose. It sounds like it is on the inside but none of my passengers or I can find where its coming from. when it rattles is when I first start up and basically any time im at a higher (1500+) RPM. I have a fart can so it puts out some good vibrations. this sound was there before the exhaust.

So is there some sort of plastic or metal peice that tends to come loose on our maximas that would make this noise?

I have a 02 SE cloth interior, non bose, and no sunroof

Any suggestions or comments on stuff I left out to eliminate things are appriciated

Thank you
Jake

Front glove box will rattle ... center arm rest lid will rattle ... back sub deck platform can rattle ... seat beat covers on the back deck can rattle ... rear plastic side panel can chatter against the rear window ... pretty much if you can remove it then it can become loose and irritate the hell out of you.

Best fix is locate the source of irritation and then use 3m foam tape to cushion that source

This might be a stretch, but do you have a pair sunglasses in the holder? Just a suggestion...

Same here. I am about to remove the console and take out the door over the cup holder because that is what is making all the noise. No problem if it is closed but if I have a drink in the car (and since I work outside, I always do), it buzzes and rattles.

My coin holder likes to rattle like mad at idle. I have the same issue with rattling drinks in the cup holder as well.

I'm also starting to notice some rattle somewhere in the B-pillar. All thanks to my catback.

Sound deadener is about the only thing you can do.

ive taken everything out of the glovebox and it is still there. I tell my wife and she says.. i cant hear it or don't worry about it. yea right i hear anything out of the norm and i go into fix it mode.

I had something similar to this except it was more of a creaking a piece of felt wedged between the dash and b pillar cover took care of mine.

I also get some rattling from my coin holder or cubbie under my cd player at the right rpm if i have the right (or i guess wrong) stuff in there. Just touching the cubbie or coin holder makes the noise stop for me, then i can move or adjust whatever is causing the noise. You might want to try this technique yourself if you haven't already

I have what sounds like a plastic rattle. Though, mine seems like it is coming from the dash around the defrost vents/light sensor.

Sound deadener? Cut to size/strip you desire, then remove paper backing like on a sticker, then apply to a clean/dry surface.

Basically, anything like Dynamat. There are cheaper brands around, just look for them. Dynamat is good for sound systems. Other deadners can be had cheaper for just stopping rattling, etc.

Like Chris Gregg said, basically, it's just an adhesive-backed pad that absorbs sound.

As far as buzzing and rattling, you can use get away with stuffing foam pads in between the rattling parts sometimes, too.

I had a small rattle that sounded like it was coming from the front dash vent area, right below the windshield. Only would happen when my fan was on setting 3 or 4. Also had a random rattle from what I thought was the passenger vent/glove box. Never figured it out. It was just so random that I ignored it. Never could find it and wasn't about to rip my entire dash apart for what would most likely me a small piece of plastic or a screw.
