Hit a pothole: car shakes and pulls right

couple days ago i hit a pothole as deep as the grand canyon now my car shakes around 60mph (feel it in steering wheel and somewhat in gas pedal) and pulls slightly to the right. my guess is that alignment is the issue, but could that also cause the vibration? any other suggestions? TIA

Wobbling could mean a bent rim or a shifted belt in the tire. You'll have to get it up on a lift to be sure.

did you check to see if any of your rims are bent....if you dont see any bends on the outer rim...look at the inner side of the rim (from under the car)

also...maybe a weight fell off???

the vibration that you are describing sounds like a wheel that came off balance for one reason or another

as far as the pulling to the side....is your tire pressure on the side it pulls to okay?....does it occur all of the time when you are driving or only when you hit the brakes?

I guess a big **** pothole can throw off the alignment as well....but the car would then tend to pull all the time to one side....

sucks....I hit a pothole in my first car...was a construction cutout in the street with no horse or anything.....bent the hell out of my rims on that side and cracked my front spring....

This isn't necessarily true. My car needs an alignment. It doesn't pull until about 55, though. Under that, I don't notice the pull.

And yes, a big pothole can throw off alignment. A lot of stuff can throw off alignment.

yeah SLC...I was thinking that as I was typing...I guess it would have to be really out of alignment to pull most of the time...it is usually when you start gaining speed that the pull becomes noticeable...

I bought new tires for the front, had them mounted and balanced about a month ago. the rim doesn't appear to be bent. if a weight was knocked off, I could see how that might cause vibration...but could that be what's causing my car to pull right?

I have a similar problem but bought the car that way, air pressure is fine and just did an alignment. Doesn't shake only pulls to the right but at any speed just more noticeable at higher speeds...

No. Your car's front end just naturally got knocked out of alignment from the impact. More than likely your car has excessive toe out on the right side from hitting the pothole, and there's nothing on the left side to counter that and keep it from drifting to the right.

In other words, just get your car aligned. You'll be fine.

yeah this afternoon i took the wheel off to examine it and the weights were still on there and i didnt notice any deformation on the tire. guess i'll take a trip to get the alignment done tomorrow

coulda caused a bubble in your tire, thatll cause some out-of-balance vibrations.

got my alignment done and car doesn't pull anymore, but the vibration is stilll there. I put my stock wheels back on and vibration is gone....so I guess the tire got screwed up somehow during impact

You didn't mention they were aftermarket wheels. I would say theres a good chance the wheel its bent or if you are lucky its just the tire. Good luck.

I think I actually slightly bent one of my stock wheels and that would take alot more force with the beefy tires and all.

I took the rim off and didn't notice any dents on the inside or outside of the rim. if by chance there was one that I can't see, wouldn't getting it re-balanced fix that?
