Cheap/easy 75MM ID aluminum maf adapter

Spectre 3" aluminum maf adapter roughly $15-20 if you order online. Measures about 5mm bigger ID than the stock maf adapter. The kit doesn't come with an adapter that fits our maf, so it must be made to fit.

Stock maf tube ~$15-20 used on forums, or free if you hack up yours. I just cut off the MAF adapter right where the screw holes end and then sanded it smooth and flat.

Used the black VHT ceramic paint. I would bake it if not for the plastic maf adapter.

Pardon my messy work bench

Taped off for painting (I like to keep a clean non painted surface for the couplers)

Paint drying

Finished

How much sensor penetration are you getting now? Is the sensor still in the main airstream, not to close to the edge where the boundary layer air sets and doesn't move quite as fast?

Excellent mod!!!

Slight confusion. How did you get the MAF adapter to secure to the aluminum housing? I see no screws holding it there...

Glue. Strong CA. Has worked pretty well in the past for me binding metal and plastic.

It is marginally less than the stock location. Maybe 1/16". I don't foresee any problems. I will have to adjust the A/F anyway.

I had the extra maf tube, and I got the maf housing off a friend for cheap... I have been considering what I would do with my MAF, and this seems like the best for the price.

sparks,

Two things:

1. I found 3M products that refer to CA adhesives. What type did you use and is it heat safe? I've gotten something I'd like to try (plastic to metal).

2. Would you think there would be any tuning needed if someone went to a complete 75mm intake pipe to throttle body? Or would the ECU compensate for the slight difference in increased air flow?
