I had a back weekend, need help plz
Okay so I had a pretty rough weekend with the max and now I cant drive her.
I had to drive up to edmonton this weekend and drove the max up on saturday. It was really rainy and a bit of snow. I think my injen CAI might have sucked up some water.
I was pulling in higher rpm up a hill through some puddles going about 70-80mph and all of a sudden I had a major power loss. the car felt like it was going to die so I pulled over.
I turned it off and checked all my fluids and everything was normal. I started the car and struggled up to highway speed. The car was okay on the highway once I got up to speed, but the power loss thing happened again about 40 mins later. The second time I just kept driving instead of pulling over and it seemed okay.
Once in edmonton the car was seriously lacking power from a stop and I was pretty worried. I parked the car for a few hours then I started it and let it run for 30 mins. After that I drove the car around and everything seemed back to normal at full power like nothing was wrong.
Today when I drove home the car pulled fine but when I stopped at a light or stop sign it was stuttering and stalled a few times. I drove 3 hrs home and the car stalled again when I parked it at my place.
I dont know what is wrong and now I need some opinions on this there are a few things I am thinking, and will get codes pulled this week.
Could my MAF have been damaged by water? Ignition coils wet maybe?
The other possiblilty on my mind is that my catalytic converter might be toast. I have headers and I thought I remember people saying cat will go once precats are out so maybe thats it.
Im at a loss here and driving a spare truck I borrowed for now. any ideas of what to check??

Oh and if I was thinking of cleaning the maf crc is the good stuff right? If I have to replace maf which is the best to buy?
I'm going to make the switch to Sri also now bc this injen just keeps getting better... I guess I just need a mid pipe... eBay one should do the trick right?

I have a CEL pretty much all the time from my headers so I dont know if there is a new code or not. How do you check the coils? is it possible that they are wet still or would they be damaged from the water?
It really does read like a bad coil. I've had 2 fail on me over the last 3 years. It would fail intermittently, massive power loss and recovery, over and over again, until all that was left was a misfire. The second time around I knew what I was feeling, so I didn't let it get as far as the first time.
I have the same issue: Mine drives though but when driven for extended periods of time, when you floor it, it accelerates really slow! I turn it off for a minute and turn it back on and it's completely fine. I've noticed that when the rpms are around 2200-2500 and you floor it, it hesitates for a split second. I have no CEL. It idles around 600rpm and sometimes around 800rpm. 03' Max 6spd. 82,000miles on the car.

Not sure why the link isn't working, but you can get to the How To from the Stickies.

How about taking it down to Advance Auto Parts or Auto Zone and having the codes scanned. Even if you did already have a CEL from the headers, the computer would still display any new codes, which may point to the problem. Have them clear 'em out while it's hooked up.

.... check your coils by going to autozone, read the codes and find the# which one it is and replace.
