keep blowing foglights

about a month ago i installed aftermarket h3 foglights in my i30. simple plug and play no big. after about 3 weeks they stopped working. i took em out and they were both blown at this point i put the stock ones back in and they didn't even turn on. i took them out and it seems as soon as i gave them power they blew as well. my guess is a wire or something somewhere in the system is touching something it shouldn't.

any suggestions?

55w i believe. but i put the stock ones back in and they blew immediately and they were the same bulbs i had been using for the last 5 years. i was gonna go out and buy more but i dont want to pay for more just to have them blow immediately.

if a wire were shorted it should blow the fuse before the bulb i would think.

Check the leads with a meter? Maybe the socket somehow got melted or warped with the fancy bulbs?

I don't understand how 55W bulbs are blowing on you so easily. I ran 85W bulbs before I got my 3000K HIDs and never had any problems.

i was hoping this was more common problem haha. i cant understand why all my fuses are fine. i was hoping that i could tackle this problem myself because i would hate to have to pay money to fix it. i'd rather go without foglights. if anyones got anymore ideas pleaase share.

This is going to be a long shot but, if the wiring is not stock, check to make sure the bulbs aren't wired in series. If this were the case I can see where the first bulb in the series might get too much current but then it should open and both lights would then loose power. Check all your bulbs with an ohmmeter for continuity, if I'm right maybe not all of them are dead.

they were aftermarket bulbs in the stock housing. i dont believe the stock fogs were wired in series and each time i put new bulbs in to replace the last, both sides pop the second i turn them on.

No, stock fogs are wired in parallel. So you're saying the wiring is also stock? Do the bulbs actually look burned or does one burn and the other just go out? If the first bulb in a series burns out the next one will also go out and they will certainly appear to go out at the same time.
If the wiring is stock then... I got nothin. I'll keep thinking about it though.

wiring is stock. just aftermarket bulbs. i took them out and they are both burnt out. THIS IS SO CONFUSING! fuses are still fine.
