Is this a good buy?!?

97 Maxima Auto with a supercharger for $1000 nothing is wrong but the guy doesn't have the title. He said that he could get it for me but it would cost me another 500-600.

If this was a 5-speed I would have jump on it no doubt but I don't know about this one.

What should I do?!?

No, sounds mad sketch! And auto with a supercharger, would be supprised if the trans lasts a few months! If the guy doesnt have the title he cant sell the car this is a bad situation get out of it!

Get the VIN and have the BMV check it out for you. If it's clean, buy it with a bill of sale, then have the BMV re-issue you a new title.

The parts alone are probably worth the hassle...

If you can get it for 1500 with a title and it runs, get it.

You can prob part out the car for more or keep it and have fun

when i bought my 88 CRX way back when, it was a bill of sale... The DMV said that they could get the title to me but only after a certain amount of time (3yrs i think it was) with ownership. They said that if the original title holder came forth with the title and said they wanted it back they were legaly the owner and could have it... so if the rules are similar or the same, make sure you get the title...

either way, sounds fishy since the SC alone costs that much or more...

Something is wrong with that deal lol if it sounds like its too good to be true then it usually is! Make sure you get a title, and run the VIN# make sure its not stolen. If its true and you get it with title and all get a 5spd swap and call it a day!

all you need to do is do a title search, i dont know about where you are but here in CT a title search is 25 dollars... so tell him another 500-600 is bullsh*t i bought my car with no title and had to wait 3 weeks to get things situated the proper way to register it! give the motor vehicle place the VIN number and ask them to run it to make sure the car is all legit and if it is all you need is a bill of sale and if possible his old registration

ask him how he is getting the title. If he's going through a title company, its around $300. However, it also depends on your state. In va, its really hard to title a car without the previous title.

Thanks for the advice.....the reason I ask was because I seen this car sitting at the tire shop for about a year and a half now and I went there only to ask about buying the front bumper cover so I can put my 97 back to looking like a 97 instead of a 96 and thats when he told me about the car having the supercharger and all that other stuff.

I just wanted the bumper cover, but after good consideration I'm going to try to just get the bumper cover on the car and if he wants to sell the supercharger by itself then that to.

i think it's a good deal, because you can part out and possibly double your money and you could have him go to the dmv and force transfer the title in your name.

if this is the case i highly recommend buying in parting it out. you will easily double or triple your money.

how does it cost extra 500-600 to get a title??? it must not be his car either. Ohhhhhhh.

A 1000 bucks jus for a donor car. BUT it has a SC. The SC alone is worth 3k. prolly $2k street sale.

If it starts and drives and is dope then consider it. If it dont start, f*K it

the owner might've taken the car to the shop to get something done, didn't pay, and they just took the car. get a vin and run a carfax.

If the shop confiscated the car for an unpaid bill, the shop still does not own it. The shop may have placed a lein against the title and maybe not, but they still do not own the car. They do not have the right to sell the car, lien or not, unless they get a court order allowing them to sell it. If you buy it, you are buying stolen property and it can be confiscated from you. If you sell parts, then you're in trouble for selling stolen property, too. Again, if the shop does not have a title for that car, run away from this.

I don't think I'm going to buy the car because the more I keep talking to buddy the fishier things are sounding. I got the bumper cover at least. I'm going to try to get the supercharger later this week.....I didn't believe him at first but when I went to go get the cover I saw the supercharger in the car
