Noticed today that my passenger side speaker was sounding distorted, so I pulled it out only to find that the lining is torn a 1/4th of the way along the circumference.

Can anyone offer any recommendations for getting it repaired? contacted all my local electronics shops (radio shack, best buy, etc.) and none of them have any "repair kits" for speakers.

Aside from having it reconed you're prolly SOL. If it's a stock speaker you'd be better off to finally put some decent ones in your car. If not, you can *attempt* to mend the tear with very thin consecutive layers of super glue on both sides and pray to God that it works. Allot of companies that produce quality guitar/bass amplifiers actually put a ring of thin super glue around the outside circumference of the speaker cone to give them a little bit more stiff of a response and keep them from ripping so easily near where they attach. My father builds and repairs vintage tube amplifiers and I saw it there first. Apparently it was a common way of repairing minor tears and cracks near the edge of speakers for years and the manufacturers caught on that it was a good idea.
