Interior Swap (ALMOST DONE)

My tan interior wasn't horrible but it was not great and for that reason I've decided to swap it out and go all black. Plus I always wanted a Max with an all black interior.

Here are pics of the swap.

Left the driver seat and seatbelt attached just in case I had to move the car or go somewhere.

Prep-ed up for tomorrow.

Tomorrow the car will be completely gutted out and hopefully I can find a decent black/grey carpet at the junkyard to swap mines with because the tan carpent is a definite NO NO for me.

Thanks and thanks for the heads up on that. How hard is the dash to take out? I might do that tomorrow as well instead of waiting for the weekend.

I didn't turn them on, btw when is everyone heading to the track and where is it located?

It's not hard but you have to take a lot of things apart. Take pics so you remember where things go and take your time! Good luck...

I've done it, you can search for my interior conversion thread.

Just be careful not to break the middle of the dash where the ac controls and radio sit. You will run out of places to grab, but don't grab that

i have done about 6 successful swaps, they are not fun to do specially when it comes time to do the dash i hate taking out the passenger airbags, its time consuming but the end results are great, this would be a good time to change a leaking sunroof as well

I have my mechanic helping me so hopefully it doesn't takes us too long to take it out. I figure I might as well just do the dash swap now because I don't think I can change the carpet without taking out the dash anyway.

Redline if I get the interior finished by then I will be there no doubt. I have two days to finish up and I didn't do anything today just sat around wasting the day...tisk tisk.

Btw I checked the "How to" section and there is nothing in there about changing the interior of doing anything involving the dash FML....wish me luck.

Didn't have time to do much to the car today just the headline.

I forgot to clean my hands before touching the headliner and that is the end result...getting it cleaned with the carpet tomorrow.

Almost done, got everything installed but came across some other issues in the process.

The donor Max that I got the seat front didn't have dual power seats. Only the driver side was power so I had to do take this seat off the frame and put it in on another one that I got from the junkyard.

In the process of reframing the seats I got this

I was bleeding every so I had to stop for awhile.

END RESULT

I will be getting a black carpet put in on Monday and when doing the dash swap sometime next week.

THE PROBLEMS THAT I FOUND
  1. After doing all the work on the seat I realize that only one of the legs go back and the other one is frozen I was soo upset because they were both working before I did the swap.
  2. And I also just found out that one of the latch support on my sunroof broke so I have to redo that all over.

I told you at the last meet that I have both airbags already. When I was first replacing mines I bought them then reliaze that my dash was a completely different color and the steering wheel was different. When I tried to take it back he said that I could just have them and go get the right ones.

PM me if you want them and we can work something out.

It wasn't all that bad. The hardest thing was the having to re-frame the seat but other than that everything went by real smooth. As long as you remember were everything goes it's basically bolt and snap on for everything.

I love the swap man! I have tan interior and I love it. I may need a new drivers seat though because mine is slowly starting to tear similar to yours.

Didn't want the Grey carpet so I went black. All I need to do now is get the black dash installed.

I MANAGED TO GET THE SEAT TO WORK SO I DIDN'T HAVE TO REFRAME IT

Thats a good question as 5th gen leather is better lookin IMO. I am willing to be with some slight modification it will fit. Hell, Kevlo put g35 seats in his car!
