I'm back hello everyone! And a Couple quick Q's

Hello boys, I'm back, was in a 97 SE 5spd that got wrote off a little over a year ago.
I had a little boy a couple months back and needed to get a sedan again, so I picked up a '01 SE anniversary edition, it's automatic unfortunately.
Only 88000km on it (54,000miles) VQ30DE-K I believe- 00VI IM denotes 'K' ?

Im having some issues and have some questions, trying to find time to search but single daddy with a newborn = no free time lol. I'm sure some of you can understand that.
My issues as follows:
1. Steering wheel controls work intermittently - seems that pulling (prying) on the switch assembly a bit makes it work for a bit. any ideas?

2. Trying to find if the cat's are necessary, looks like 2 pre-cats and one post-cat. How detrimental is it to have these cats, for emmisions and for power? I am thinking of doing some exhaust work for a minor rumble want to have a direction. Also have heared they can be a bother so wondering if eliminating them is an option.

3. a) Was the CD changer an option on the 20th anniversary SE? I am unsure if it's just not working or if I dont have it.
b) Is the rear defroster button the same as the 4th gen ? does it activate the heated mirrors as well? I assume the mirrors are heated....
c) The driver seat switch 'front and back' function is not working, the rest is fine, is there a way to test this before I try and get a new switch?? Can't find any maxima's in the local junkyards, also wondering if the switch is compatible between 00-03, there is one '03 about 45mins away.
EDIT -----> http://maxima.theowensfamily.com/tsb/NTB02-001c.pdf see here for TSB

4. 'TCS off', 'SLIP', 'ABS' lights on, trying to find out if they are all related?? So if I can diagnose the ABS possibly I can fix the rest of them?? Im not horribly concerned that these systems arent working but I don't like having the dash lit up like a christmas tree, unless it's from custom LED gauges.
- which brings me to the gauges,
what the hell did nissan do!! The 97-99 SE gauges were beautiful, what the hell is with this blue, red, green theme in the interior, and the gauges are ugly, and uninspired, I hope there are some reliable and classy replacements out there, or some custom DIY's for these......* end rant

Anyways wanted to say hello to you all, I look forward to trying to help and chatting with everyone again on this site!! Great resource for all of us.
For all of those who will say search!!! I will, and have been, just thought I'd put it out there I am unsure if I'm going to keep the car... it's giving me bad vibes,, maybe it's just the automatic that has me scepticle.
Either way I'm happy to be back

-Matty

Ahaha thanks man. It is nice to be back on a forum that has some dignity and maturity.
I would like to start looking for a diff. grille and some rims too.... the 6 spokes are nice, but stock rims ... meh.... and the street scenes grille... (I think thats what it is) I'm not sure about.... maybe it'll grow on me.

PS I just realized how long that post is, so to anyone who made it through... *cheers, and sorry I wrote a novel

I can tell you the seat problem is not the switch, it's the seat motor. The seat has to be removed. Do a quick google search, I followed the instructions someone posted online. They also recommend where to get the parts. I think it was for an Infinity, but they are the same.
