busted cam sensor on3.5 swap help
I have a 97 3.5 swap and it shut off going down the road and wouldn't start back like it wasn't hitting so I started checking the timeing sensors and the cam sensor was broken severely and so I was trying to put a new one in and it wont sit flush I got all of the plastic and all the other junk out I jut can't figure out why it would have broken the swap has been done for over a year input appreciated thanks

I just changed a bank 2 (closest to front) sensor on my 04 - it was cracked internally as the harness was saturated with oil. The car would stall, but it would still start (failsafe mode). They're notorious, when I changed it I plugged in the connecter before I torqued it down because it's so easy to put pressure on the flimsy/awkward angle of the plug-in. If it's not sitting flush, make sure the part itself is not the bank 1, or the crankshaft position sensor (the latter has the plastic arm with the grounding bolt at a 45 degree angle rather than straight on) - the three sensors look really similar and parts guys sometimes mess up, but because the camshaft ones fail more frequently, they're triple the price of the crank sensor.
