Should I straight pipe my car??

My exhaust is toast. It was literally hanging off the bottom of the car so my bro just broke it and pulled it out. So I'm thinking maybe it would be cheaper to str8 pipe it. But what u guys think? Is it a good idea or would it be too loud??

it would be really cheap to straght pipe it, but just save a few extra dollars and buy an oem muffler. straightpiping is very loud and makes you more ''suss'' or vulnerable to police. Thats IMO though

Even if u decided to do it, I guarantee you would last more than a month without wanting to drive it straight into a wall. Trust me! Buy a resonator, and a decent muffler, you wont regret it.

Don't straight pipe it. It's gonna be extremely raspy and loud. Get the Custom Maxima catback if you wanna save money.

Yeah I heard the custommaxima catback exhaust ain't to bad for the money. I also need a new cat and y pipe. I'm getting the stock ones cuz I don't like how it sounds with aftermarket y pipes like warpspeed. I hate that buzzing sound it makes. I get it replaced asap cuz the whole system is just falling apart.

If you don't want all that buzzing sound, get a Cattman y-pipe. As far as a cat goes, get a Bosal OEM replacement. Then get the CM catback and you're set.

do not go straight pipe...some people claim to like it in the beginning but they start to hate it after having it for a couple of weeks...esp. when travelling long distances

save money for a catback

I drove around for a couple weeks with an open y-pipe while I was waiting for my Cattman catback (stock one broke). Trust me, if you straight pipe it, before long you'll want to shoot yourself in the face. I don't know how concerned you are about performance mods or if you have an aftermarket y-pipe or whatever, but I'd recommend getting AT LEAST a custommaxima cat-back (which is actually the same as many on eBay, but more expensive). If you wanna go inexpensive just get the eBay/custommaxima cat-back.

So **** it man just save up and wait. If you go the cheap route and just straight pipe it, you'll definitely regret it. Save and do it right the first time.

You need at least a resonator on there. It doesn't restrict flow, and it keeps the noise level manageable. I have the Custom Maxima catback, and the sound gets annoying without a proper muffler, but at least i can silence it by driving gently. The resonator is tuned pretty well for the pressure generated at very low throttle.

seems like you are keeping the car stock..if so, i dont see to much of an issue with doing that, but if you do aftermarket...DO NOT!!!! straight pipe it, use a resonator

WHen i hear of ppl talking of straight pipe i usually think of them deleting the Cat. DONT DO IT. Its not worth the headache or 1HP or 2. If u want something that is less restrictive but still is a CAT, then get a magnaflow cat.

Depending on the flowmaster or magnaflow muffler u get its gonna be LOUD. Jus adding a y-pipe makes the exhaust more louder. Albeit not alot.

Do what the others have suggested, Keep the cat, get the y-pipe an get a low-tone catback and u be good.

Like others said, I think you'll def. regret straight piping it after about two weeks. Eat mac and cheese for a while if you have to and save up for something decent!!

I had this happen on a Jeep, (well, they stole the whole damn thing with my catalytic converter) and didn't bother even looking into the cost of a new muffler. The price of having a muffler shop straight pipe it was about the same as just buying one and paying them to put it on.

Just replace it. This seems like a "give me your opinion thread," I'd say the general consensus is just get a new one. Straight piping should be reserved for the most desperate of situations.
